Truck Hit by Train in Georgia, One Man Dies
A white Ford truck was hit by a train in Gwinnett County, Georgia today.
51 year old Tony Ross Lungaro, the passenger, was killed. Lorenzo Wilkerson, 40, was driving the truck traveling south on Buford Highway. Severin Gluschak, 25, was driving a bronze 2003 Chevrolet Astrovan north on Buford Highway and failed to yield when attempting to turn left onto Amwiler Road, authorities said. The truck ended up on the railroad tracks. Lungaro got out of the truck and went to the driver’s side to help Wilkerson. He was struck by the train and killed, according to Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith.
When officers arrived at the scene of the accident, the truck was on fire. One officer was treated for smoke inhalation.
Wilkerson was transported to the hospital with injuries described as serious. Gluschak suffered only minor injuries.
No charges have been filed, but an investigation is underway.
