Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Rumors have been floating around for the entire off season that the New York Jets were planning to trade Darrelle Revis.
He has reportedly signed a 6 year, 96 million dollar deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
A Jets’ representative gave two reasons for the trade. They were unable to negotiate a long-term deal with the 27 year old Revis, and have concerns about his recovery from a serious knee injury last season.
Revis is considered a “shut-down” cornerback, one of very few in the NFL. These were Tampa Bay’s statistics for wide receiver’s playing against them in the 2012 season.
Comp pct. 62.8, 28th
Yds per att. 9.2, T-30th
Yds PG 203.7, Last
YAC PG 72.5, 31st
The Jets received a 13th pick on Thursday night’s draft, and a 13 or 14th in 2014, depending on the Buccaneers’ record at the end of the 2013 season. The Jets will have two picks early in the draft, already possessing the 9th.
Revis is only six months removed from ACL surgery and was cleared to run without restriction only last Monday.
