COLLISIONDETAILS:
On March 2, 2013 at approximately 3:05 p.m., a fatal auto/pedestrian traffic collision occurred on Torino Avenue west of Riley Street. Evidence atthe scene indicated a 2006Dodge Magnumwasstationary, parked on the south side of Torino Avenue. A juvenile pedestrian wasstanding nearthe vehicle, directly to the rear of the Dodge. TheDodge began to drive away and the pedestrian attempted to enterthe passengerside of the vehicle with out the driver’s knowledge. The pedestrian was dragged underneath theDodge for approximately 40 feet when the driverrealized a collision occurred and he stopped the vehicle. The juvenile pedestrian was transported toUMC Trauma Center and later pronounced deceased bymedical personnel. This wasthe 35th traffic related fatality in LVMPD’sjurisdiction in 2013. The accidentremains underinvestigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
