On 4-3-2013 around 6:00pm officers responded to the area of MLK Dr and Spring St regarding a black SUV that had driven off the bridge there. Upon arrival officers found that a black Jeep Liberty SUV had driven through the bridge guardrail and fallen to the ground below. There were three occupants inside the SUV at the time of the accident. The front passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle by AFR units. All were transported to Grady Hospital in stable condition with minor injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates that the SUV was traveling Eastbound on MLK Dr when the driver experienced a medical emergency. The vehicle turned to the left, striking and going through the guardrail and falling from the bridge. The driver was found to be unlicensed and was cited for that violation. At this time no other charges have been filed.
