Demi Lovato and Her Warrior Ink

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato has another tattoo, this time on her left shoulder blade and it says, “Now I’m a warrior.” Ink is Demi’s passion it seems and the latest “warrior” ink is in honour of her song, entitled appropriately enough, Warrior which is on her newly released fourth album, “Demi.”

Demi posted her new body ink on Instagram the day after her new album was released. The 20-year-old “Heart Attack” singer posted the picture Wednesday of her new ink, along with a Twitter message that said, “Thanks @BangBang! Album release day!!! #DEMI,” and a link to her iTunes page. The new ink came from Bang Bang Tattoos in New York City.

The former “Sonny With a Chance” star also got tats on her wrists to honor her fans’ support during her stint in an Illinois rehab facility in 2010. She already had a Latin cross tattooed below her thumb and a flock of birds drawn on her forearm. The new ink brings her tattoo total to 12, according to MTV.

While doing her MTV live Q & A she revealed that she had a personal connection with the song, but, she also revealed that the whole album was pretty special to her. She said that, “the entire album is filled with honest emotion.”

She also said that, “There are songs that are pretty self-explanatory on this album, and when I played those songs in front of other people I almost felt, like, naked. There were several times I had to leave the room.”

She went on to explain that Warrior was a, “very meaningful song to me. It’s very heavy, the lyrics, but it’s an inspirational song as well. It’s a negative thing turned positive.”

Demi also went on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday to explain the message behind her new ink and she related that she also drove around the city telling New Yorkers to buy her latest album.

During her chat with Fallon she said, “I have a song on my album called ‘Warrior,’ and it’s a very, very meaningful song to me. It’s really heavy, the lyrics, but it’s an inspirational song as well. It’s a negative thing turned positive. And I’ve been through a lot and I’m really really honest on this album. This was a song that as very difficult for me to write, record and now release. It was kind of like a tribute to releasing an album, as well as overcoming some really, really difficult things in my life.”

Lovato has previously opened up about the “dark period” that included depression, eating disorders and cutting, which ultimately landed her in rehab. Presumably this same “dark period” included the long process of “bonding” with Selena Gomez. In her earlier MTV Q & A she explained that the Disney duo, who initially met way back in the day on kid’s television show Barney and Friends, went through a rough patch in their famous friendship. She also said that, “We’ve been through a lot together…we’ve had periods of times where we grew apart and just didn’t really talk.”

Demi poked fun at herself on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show, clearly showing that she’s moved on from her hard times and when Fallon suggested that they play a game; Modern Family’s Julie Bowen, Fallon’s other guest of the evening, suggested beer pong but was concerned that Lovato might be underage.

“That doesn’t matter,” Lovato said, laughing, “because I’ve already been to rehab!”

As long as Demi can retain her sense of humour she should be alright.
