Bulger James Joseph Found Guilty of Murder and Extortion

According to Boston.com, James Joseph Bulger has today been found guilty of a number of counts of murder and extortion.

Bulger was the criminal kingpin, who plagued the streets of Boston for many years. Bulger was originally an informant, who used his position to leach off of information fed to him by corrupt FBI agents; he used his connections to kill rivals, as well as other informants. Aside from this, many of Bulger’s victims entailed innocent parties.

The 83-year-old man was detained in Santa Monica, California, where his apartment was situated, in 2011. Bulger was later transported to Massachusetts, where he was monitored by heavy security.

He had been accused of involvement in a number of brutal murders, whilst spearheading a protection racket during the 1970s and 1980s.

The jury, who had deliberated over the case for more than 32 hours, spanning a five day period, has delivered a guilty verdict on 11 counts of murder and 6 counts of extortion. Of the 32 counts that Bulger faced, the jury found him guilty of a total of 31 counts.

More news is to be expected, shortly.
