Lady Gaga offers body on ARTPOP

Less than a month away from the release of her new album ARTPOP, Lady Gaga announces that she will be performing on the X Factor, goes on a rant via Twitter, and releases the track Do What U Want featuring closet expert R.Kelly, which offers her body to the media. Fans unable to contain their building anticipation have been tweeting about the new track as well as the upcoming album.

On Sunday October 27th Lady Gaga will be releasing her new single, Venus, as well as performing it on the X Factor. Lady Gaga’s release of the track ‘Do What U Want’ ft. R.Kelly coincide with her recent outburst on twitter last night, showing off that she will in fact do what she wants and is not sorry. She addressed many of the negative comments against her by tweeting each slanderous comment in CAPS and responding with (mostly) #hashtags. Some of her tweets include pictures, those links are not included here.

  • MADONNA HATES GAGA SHE’S OVER … i dont need anybodys permission to be remembered. I will be. Whether they like it or not
  • GOD HATES LADY GAGA! #YouCanHaveMyHeart ill always fight for equality, got my own relationship with God
  • LADY GAGA IS ON DRUGS! HER CAREER IS OVER! (been an addict for 10years) #WriteWhatUWant My recovery is a daily battle
  • LADY GAGA IS FAT NOW! #DoWhatUWantWithMyBody
  • APPLAUSE didn’t DEBUT AT #1 KATY IS BETTER THAN HER! #UwontUseMyMind I write for the music not the charts

Two days before the these tweets she told fans on twitter, “I love my fans. They make me feel strong everyday. They’re the blood in my veins now.”

For those that haven’t heard her new track Do What U Want ft. R.Kelly, it is a dance anthem with a bold message that surprisingly doesn’t focus on R.Kelly very much. In the beginning of the song Lady Gaga is alone, doing just fine, until she makes a mistake that the media gets a hold of it and frustrates her. “I feel good, I walk alone, but then I trip by myself and I fall. I, I stand up, and then I’m okay but then you break sh*t that makes me want to scream.”

As the song continues it becomes more apparent that Lady Gaga is addressing the media saying, “do what you want with my body you can’t stop my voice cause you don’t own my life but do what you want with my body,” indicating that the media often tries to show her off in a certain light, and although she doesn’t have much control over that she will keep being herself. Boldly, Lady Gaga offers the media a lot of herself but never all of it, always holding onto the strongest parts of what she identifies as herself. If you would like to analyze the specifics not mentioned here, or if you just want to have a spontaneous dance party, you can listen to this track at the bottom of the article by clicking on the video.

ARTPOP releases worldwide on November 11th, however, Germany, Finland, Australia, and Austria will receive ARTPOP on November 8th. Gaga stated that ARTPOP was something she felt more confident writing and that it emulated a “phoenix rising from the ashes.” It is comprised of 15 tracks and as described by Lady Gaga is “a celebration and poetic musical journey.”  Will the media be satisfied with the album? Clearly, Lady Gaga doesn’t care if the media accepts her visceral offer, she writes for the fans after all.
