The Lego Movie sequel planned by Warner Brothers

The Lego Movie hits box offices this weekend and is expected to make quite the splash so it comes as no surprise that Warner Brothers have already begun talking about what comes next. With so much recognizable talent and content it would make sense that The Lego Movie would be continued and seeing as the first one took so long to make, it is a good thing Warner Brothers is already building a sequel.

The Lego Movie follows the lego man Emmet, who is mistaken as the one and only Master Builder. This leads to Emmet joining forces with a large list of special folks, including a wizard, pirate, Batman and all sorts of others as they try to put a stop to the evil Lord Business who intends to glue the entire Lego universe together. The story is fun and creative enough to warrant such a wacky team, one that kids will surely enjoy.

It isn’t surprising that a sequel has already been planned, The Lego Movie has nine out of ten stars on IMDB and a metascore of 81 out of 100. The staggering cast list is full of friendly faces such as Charlie Day, Alison Brie, Jonah Hill, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Dave Franco, Will Forte, Channing Tatum, Elizabeth Banks, and Will Arnett. Not to mention, it is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller who worked together on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street.

Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan are already collaborating on the script to the sequel to The Lego Movie. This idea sounds like a successful one. The Lego Movie is going to bring in a lot of different groups of people because so many people already understand some aspect of the movie. Kids and adults across the world are familiar with Legos as well as some of the characters making appearances such as Batman and Superman. To add to the list, the number of recognizable voices blessing this movie is outstanding.

Warner Brothers and the next lego movie

The Lego Movie is set to hit theaters this weekend but is already expected to bring in more than $40 million. Warner Brothers has had this project in the works since they scooped up the rights for a Lego film back in 2008. The work that has gone into this film has been quietly growing for years and is ready to finally reveal itself to the public.

The hype surrounding The Lego Movie has certainly grown to a point where most people will have heard of it already. With such a high chance of success due to the team working on the film and the individuals lending their voices as well, Warner Brothers wants a sequel. Stern and Morgan are going to have a lot on their plate if they intend to build a sequel to The Lego Movie that matches up to expectations. Seeing as The Lego Movie took about five years to complete it could be quite a while before a sequel is ready for theaters. Until then, The Lego Movie stands ready to excite and entertain.
