‘How I Met Your Mother’ Characters Could All Be Dead

How I Met Your MotherIn a strange twist that Lost fans will understand, Alyson Hannigan lately teased that all the How I Met Your Mother characters could really be dead. The actress who plays Lily Aldrin on the show will not confirm or deny whether this is going to be the end to the show that has run successfully for nine years.

Right from the start, the main character of the show, Ted Mosby, has told the story of how he met his mother’s children. It all started with meeting Robyn Scherbatsky in the first episode, and ended with the line “and that’s how I met your Aunt Robyn.” From the beginning, it teased with the idea of leading the children—and fans—into believing one thing and quickly changing it right at the end.

The audience and Lily have finally met “the mother,” but it will likely be the last episode when the moment everyone has finally been waiting for happens. Just what will Ted think of “the mother” when he first spots her?

In a recent interview, Hannigan was asked whether she was worried about the finale of the long show. With such a build up, there were chances that the final episode would not live up to expectations. This is something that has happened with many shows, including Lost, which ended up with all the characters being dead and meeting up in the afterlife. However, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress made it clear that the final script is exciting. When asked about how it ends, she simply hinted that the How I Met Your Mother characters could all be dead.

During the interview, the actress was asked about whether she would take some inspiration from the show to tell her own children how she met their father. The difference for Hannigan is that she can show it all.

Hannigan and her husband, Alexis Denisof, met while on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She will be able to show her two daughters the first episode their dad appeared in, and the moment she realized that she really liked him. It took a year for the two to start dating, but they have now been married for eleven years and still seem like a very happy couple.

For fans who are worried about the How I Met Your Mother characters really being dead, according to the actress the show has been wrapped up in a way that the fans would like. Surely that would hint that the characters are not dead, or that it was not just a fantasy. However, she has explained that there are happy and sad moments.

Many fans have asked the actress if she will be spending the night at MacLaren’s Bar in New York to watch the final episode. The bar is the one that the show has based itself around, which is just underneath the apartment that Marshall Erikson and Ted initially share. However, she has stated that she will not be there due to being a blubbering mess. Is that because the show has come to an end, or because the How I Met Your Mother characters are really like the Lost ones and are all really dead?
