Kate Winslet to Become a True Hollywood Star

Kate WinsletKate Winslet is to become a true Hollywood star on St. Patrick’s Day. The Oscar-winning actress will have a star with her name placed on the Walk of Fame, and will be the 2,250th celebrity to get this honor.

Many fans will agree that the actress deserves this honor. Most remember her for her leading role in Titanic opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, but she has also appeared in Revolutionary Road (also opposite DiCaprio), Finding Neverland and Contagion. She has also done voices in Flushed Away, Christmas Carol: The Movie, and various short films.

Winslet is also an accomplished singer, doing the theme song for Christmas Carol: The Movie, called What If. However while she enjoys singing, she has focused on her main passion of acting.

Unlike previous leading man co-star Dicaprio, the Revolutionary Road actress has won a number of awards, including an Academy Award. It took six nominations to finally receive the Academy Award, which was for her role in The Reader. However, she was the youngest to receive two nominations after her portrayal of Rose in Titanic in 1997. She was just 22-years-old at the time. She has also won Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and other awards for her various roles throughout the years.

The unveiling of her star will take place on March 17, 2014 at 11:30 am, where she will be joined by Kathy Bates and James Cameron, co-star in and director of Titanic respectively. The good news is that fans will get the chance to see Winslet finally become a true Hollywood star.

The whole ceremony will be streamed live for people all over the world to watch. Those who are lucky enough to be in Los Angeles at the time can go to Hollywood &Vine, outside the W Hollywood Hotel, where the unveiling will take place. It should last 45 minutes at the most, and it completely free for the public to attend. It could be a chance of a lifetime for those who are just visiting the city.

While the ceremony takes around 45 minutes, the Walk of Fame website encourages people to attend in comfortable shoes. There will be nowhere to sit down at the event. The website also encourages to take plenty of water to remain hydrated during this time. Those thinking that they can take their own chairs will be left disappointed, as they are not allowed. Ladders are not allowed either. The area can get extremely crowded, so the event organizers need to consider the safety of everyone.

Children are welcome to the event, but it is worth considering leaving younger ones at home. This is again due to the large crowds that are likely to gather.

For those who miss the live streaming or the event itself, it will be recorded and placed on the Walk of Fame website. This happens for all star unveiling ceremonies, so fans can watch their favorite celebrities unveil their Hollywood stars. However, if you can be there it will be a great chance to see Winslet get the honor of becoming a true Hollywood star.
