Lady Gaga will be delivering the keynote address at this year’s South by Southwest Festival.  She will be giving her speech as part of a conversation led by John Norris of Fuse Friday, March 14. The discussion will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Austin-Downtown at 11. a.m.

The pop diva will also be performing for the first time at South by Southwest this year. Fans wanting to see the Paparazzi singer must complete a series of challenges issued by Doritos. For the first challenge, fans are asked to upload pictures and videos of themselves expressing their individuality. Her performance will help her foundation, Born This Way. “I believe being an individual and speaking your mind is one of the boldest things you can do,” the singer said about the challenges.

The ARTPOP singer described what her show will be like in a recent Rolling Stones interview. “It’s all about the music and the connection with the crowd,” she said. “I want the audience in Austin to see me live in a way I never have before.”

Lady Gaga’s delivery of this year’s keynote comes one day before her performance at the Subb’s Doritos #BoldStage. “Performing at Subb’s is a real blast from the past,” the pop diva said. “I can’t wait to celebrate with the audience how far music can go when we believe and stick together.”

This will be the third year Doritos has hosted a musical guest at South by Southwest. Lady Gaga is their biggest headliner to date. Past lineups included LL Cool J and Ice Cube.”We’ve never done anything with this scale,” vice president of marketing at Frit0-Lay Ram Krishnan said.

Lady Gaga found instant success when her first album The Fame released in August 2008. The record included the hit singles, Just Dance and Poker Face. A year later, she released an extended version of the CD, which included the additional tracks Bad Romance and Telephone.

Besides her successful music career, Lady Gaga launched a non-profit organization called Born This Way in 2012. BTWF focuses on inspiring young adults and building better communities.

Lady Gaga was named the “Queen of Pop” in 2011 by Rolling Stone’s Chris Molanphy. Currently, her most recent album ARTPOP has been her second most successful record. The pop diva is known for her outlandish behavior and unique fashion style.  She has sold over 24 million records and 125 million singles.

The Do What U Want star noted that her performance will be one-of-a-kind. Many of her fans are just anxiously awaiting the day to see what the pop diva will wear for the event.

Last month, Lady Gaga revealed she had been suffering from depression following the success of her third album. She was angry and lost the self-confidence to stand up for herself. “I became very depressed at the end of 2013,” she said. “I was exhausted fighting people off. I couldn’t even feel my own heartbeat.”

In delivering this year’s keynote, Lady Gaga will join the ranks of Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Dave Grohl. South by Southwest begins March 11.
