Pharrell Is Happy

Some people say men and women do not come into their own until around 40; well that explains why Pharrell Williams is so overwhelmingly happy. All of a sudden this once hip-hop producer has become a Def Punk superstar. Now, out of nowhere people around the world are saying they feel like a room without a roof, because they are happy. How great must it feel to bring happiness to the world, and have fun doing it? This successful veteran producer seems to be having the time of his life right now. At the peak of his career, he has a hit song, Oscar nod, new album, and new wife. Therefore, it is completely obvious that he has a lot to be happy about. It is not so often that a young Virginia producer makes their way to the Oscar ballot and stage with Hollywood’s elite.

Happy has easily become the new song to sweep the nation since LMFAO Everyday I’m Shuffling. He has developed a signature sound and look. Everyone now knows Pharrell’s infamous Vivienne Westwood hat worn first at the Grammys this year. That hat itself is a trending topic without “Skate Board P.” Pharrell Williams has become an international household name, because of the success of this Despicable Me 2 hit. This song has been earning high ranks on the billboard charts ever since the soundtrack came out. It has recently sold over $1 million digital sales. That is enough to keep it at the top five for a while longer. Plus, the buzz Pharrell has gained from his Oscar nod is generating more attention for the hit song. That additional success can serve him well due to the fact that his new album Girl just came out. Coincidentally, he is taking his explosive hit and using it to launch his current album also.

Pharrell has been on the ride of his life that surprisingly led him to the 85th Academy Awards. He has had three of the biggest hits to be released this past summer. In fact, Pharrell Williams had two songs on The Billboard charts in the one and two spot. He and Daft Punk released Get Lucky; Blurred Lines with Robin Thicke, along with the song he wrote for Despicable Me 2. The wave of excitement that surrounded these songs led to the necessary momentum needed to get the song nominated. Once Pharrell got his nod from with The Oscars he was then focusing on the performance. This performance had to be a real special moment for him, because he invited half of the attendees to join. In his performance there were a multitude of dancers, singers, and a few guest appearances. He put on a show an incorporated 12 Years a Slave star Lupita Nyong’O, Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, and Jamie Foxx, just to name a few. After this performance he there is no doubt he left his mark on the Oscars. Outside of that infamous selfie by Ellen DeGeneres, his performance was a hot topic.

Warming the Grammy stage has just prepared the people for Girl, his first new album since 2006. Pharrell said he was doing his first album without a purpose, because he did not know he should have one. However, this go round everything is different he has perspective, understanding, and purpose. That combination mixed with his natural ability to create should make this album a solid hit. It has 11 tracks and a new 70s sexy soulful type of groove to it. All the different variations of sound should make that album appealing to a wider audience. But, with the level that he is creating on Pharrell Williams should have no problem extending his sound across the world, because everyone wants to be happy.
