A Tennessee woman living in the western part of Knoxville discovered a dead body under the deck of her home while she was helping her young son hunt for Easter eggs on Wednesday. Local news reports state that Tara Hanouskova began to smell a strange odor which gradually became worse over the past week, but she could never identify where the source came from.
However on Wednesday afternoon, while she was looking for Easter eggs with her three-year-old child, she detected something that had a pair of feet wearing tennis shoes laying in the crawl space that was under her house’s deck.
Hanouskova explained that the stench was not always very strong or consistent. She said that she only noticed the odor off and on until it became so horrible she decided she had to look underneath the deck while hunting Easter eggs see just exactly what was located there. She added that she has no idea how the body got there.
Tennessee state and local police have yet to identify who the man is. His fully clothed remains were believed to have been under the Hanouskova’s deck for nearly two weeks at least. An autopsy was performed on the body and it revealed that no foul play was involved in his death. The authorities stated that the man suffered a medical condition that lead to his death.
The deceased man was in his middle ages and around five feet, five inches tall. He weighed about 170 pounds and had short, brown hair and brown eyes. It was also stated that the person did not have any markings such as tattoos or scars but he had had a lot of dental work done.
There was a check performed against the file of missing persons and crime reports but these both ended up leaving detectives empty handed.
After she discovered the body, Hanouskova was able to get her son, who has special-needs, back inside their home, before he was able to see anything. She also stated that nine-one-one operators sent along the dispatch about being extra sensitive to the entire tragic situation because of her son’s special needs situation. Therefore the police cruisers and fire engines that reportedly responded to the scene made sure to “not run hot”, which means they did not use any flashing lights or use their sirens.
Hanouskova was extremely grateful for how the emergency responders came to her house. She stated that everyone was extremely respectful and treaded very lightly. She declared that her young child still has no clue that anything actually happened. She added that the situation itself seemed surreal having occurred in a discreet, quiet neighborhood like her own.
