Police say Michael Jace’s wife 40-year-old April Jace had just arrived home with their two sons from a baseball practice before the incident of an alleged argument started. April Jace was shot several times in the upper torso within 15 minutes of arriving home according to officials. The boys, said to be under the age of 10, were not harmed. The two children who heard the shots ring out in the home have been place in the care of relatives.

Investigators have revealed that Michael Jace was married previously and according to divorce papers, Jace had allegations of domestic violence cited in the documents. Divorce papers from 2007 show Jace’s ex-wife Jennifer Bitterman claiming the actor made threats to kill her over visitation of their son. In other incidents, according to court documents, Jace physically choked and slammed Bitterman into a wall.

Further findings by investigators uncovered that financial stress my have been a contributing factor to an argument that happened during the evening with Jace and his now deceased wife. According to records, Michael Jace had been going through financial hardship having filed for chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2011. Court papers reveal the actor owed back taxes, credit card debt and carried two mortgages on his property.
