Clouds of Sils Maria is a French film, which is set to be released in the U.S. this year on December first. The film follows an international actress, who sinks into a depression when she sees her age starting to affect her career. Her condition only worsens when she starts to fall for her young and attractive assistant. Juliette Binoche, Kristen Stewart, and Chloë Grace Moretz star in this Cannes Film Festival favorite.

Juliette Binoche plays Maria Enders in Clouds of Sils Maria, who is a very celebrated actress at the peak of an international career. She is asked to perform in a revamp of a play she did when she was 18-year-old, a play that helped launch her career. Only this time around, instead of playing her old role of young Singird, she is playing the older women Singird torments to suicide. She is replaced with Jo-Ann Ellis, a very stuck up and scandalize actress. She retreats to focus on rehearsing in Sils Maria, located in a remote region on Switzerland, where she stays in the home of recently-deceased friend and author Wilhelm Melchio. Melchio helped Enders gain recognition, and died before Enders was to receive and an award in his honor. Isolated together in the mountains, Enders begins developing feelings for her assistant Valentine, who is played by Kristen Stewart.

Enders is already at a weakened emotional state from a recent divorce, as well as the death of her old friend Melchio. She hates the actress chosen to replace her, and conflicts rise between the two. She slowly learns that she is living the role she is playing, inadvertently sticking to the plot of the play and falling for a young girl, who in turn is driving her insane. Enders has to comes to terms with the changes of aging, and profess her feelings before ruining her relationships and career.

Olivier Assayas. Assayas is a decorated director in Paris, and he both wrote and directed Clouds of Sils Maria, as well as a number of his works have gained him recognition across several countries over the years. He is most famously known for Summer Hours (2008) and Paris, Je T’aime (2006). In 2011 he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding directing in his miniseries, Carlos the Jackal (2010).

Clouds of Sils Maria got great reviews at Cannes Film Festival this year. All three actresses got were honored for their fantastic performances. Kristen Stewart stunned the crowd with her famously cool composure and romantic control. This is one of the first major films the 24-year-old actress has made since the film series that helped bring her fame, Twilight, completed its last sequel in 2012. Fans are excited to see her continue with drama roles she often excels at. Chloë Grace Moretz, who is not even 18-year-old yet, continues to impress critics with her acting abilities. Lastly, Oscar winner Juliette Binoche convincingly portrays the pros and cons of an actress aging in the industry. Fans can see the three actresses for themselves when Clouds of Sil Maria comes to U.S. theaters on December first, 2014.
