Jimmy Fallon Sings With Julianna Marguilies in ‘Morning Announcements’ Bit

On tonight’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy’s first guest will be Julianna Marguilies from The Good Wife, who he later does a funny Morning Announcements skit with. His second guest will be legendary comedian, Jerry Lewis. Fallon’s musical guest will be Public Enemy.

Jimmy Fallon began the Tonight Show with his monologue. He said: “Hilary Clinton gave a speech in Iowa where she fueled speculation that she would be running for president by saying she’s thinking about it. Next week, she’ll be ‘thinking about it’ in New Hampshire.'”

Continuing, Fallon joked “If Scotland breaks away from England, all England will do is stalk them on Facebook and talk about ‘how fat it’s getting.'”

Then, Jimmy commented on a controversial thing that Kanye West recently did during a concert. “Kanye West called out two fans who wouldn’t stand up. He has a lot of other things to worry about, like why Stevie Wonder won’t wave back at him.”

“Walmart’s spokesman has resigned after it was found out that he lied about having a college degree. He had one.”

“Last night was the season premiere of Dancing With the Stars. Here’s what Tavis Smiley had to say,” Fallon said. The video clip Fallon showed was of Tavis talking about being on the series, but using the word “some” a lot. He then added “I think someone has been smoking something he got from Tommy Chong.”

“Liam Neeson and Tim McGraw will be here tomorrow night, Jimmy Fallon said. “We have a great show tonight, from The Good Wife, Julianna Marguilies is here! Also, the Nutty Professor, Jerry Lewis, is joining us! And, we will have music from Public Enemy! They always travel together, hand-in-hand. Fallon showed the new Def Jams box set that looked like a record player.

Then, he did the comedy bit Pros & Cons, about “Having a College Roommate.” Fallon began the bit by saying: “Pro: Having something in common with your roommate. Con: The thing that you both share in common is that you don’t like each other.”

Fallon went on, saying “Pro: Having an exercise-conscious roommate who uses a Shake Weight every night. Con: Finding out he doesn’t really have a Shake Weight.”

“Pro: Checking out the beds in the room and being asked if you want top or bottom. Con: Finding out there aren’t any bunk beds.”

Back from a commercial break, Jimmy Fallon introduced Julianna Marguilies and said the season premiere of The Good Wife is this coming Sunday night.

Fallon mentioned that the last time he saw Julianna, they were both staying in the same hotel, and he helped her find the sauna there. He asked someone who worked there that they both wanted to know where the sauna is, and he was told “You know, there’s a sauna for men and one for women.”

Julianna called Fallon “my good luck charm” because whenever they were both at the Emmys, Julianna has won one of them. She won an Emmy this year when Fallon was on it, and the same thing has happened to her in the past.

Julinna related a story about her husband having champagne ready for celebrating after the Emmys, and said that they were so early getting to the Emmys they spent time just circling the parking lot. “It was unbelievable. 75 degrees — it was the loveliest pre-show possible.”

Jimmy Fallon said he had heard she had a tip if you’re nervous. “I do,” she said, and started to hum the song from The Wizard of Oz, If I Only Had a Brain. She said it cheered her up.

Also, she said that when she was a girl, “TV was sort of the anti-Christ in my house, though my father wrote TV jingles,”

Jimmy asked her “Which ones?”

Julianna started singing “Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh, what a relief it is,” the old jingle for Alka Seltzer. Now, she said that her mom is different and likes to watch TV, especially courtroom dramas like Judge Judy. She said that her mom was going to watch the show tonight.

The premiere of The Good Wife will air right after the Sunday Night NFL Football game, according to Julianna. He asked her about the guest stars this season. She said that Michael J. Fox will be one of them and so will David Hyde Pierce (Frasier).

Then, back from break, Jimmy Fallon and Julianna did a Morning Announcements skit. It was pretty hilarious. During it, Fallon made an announcement that there would be a Bake-Off coming up. Then, he turned on music and started singing about the Bake-Off to the Taylor Swift song, Shake It Off. They both sang and changed the words to popular hit songs.  They sang a number of other songs, changing the words to match whatever announcements they were making.

When the Tonight Show come back from another commercial break, Jimmy Fallon introduced his second guest of the night, the iconic legendary comedian, Jerry Lewis. “Our next guest is the definition of ‘Comedy Legend,'” Fallon said. He introduced Jerry Lewis, with The Roots singing out the words “Hey, hey, hey, lady!” one of Jerry’s famous catch-phrases.

“When you did the promo, you mentioned my name like nine times! Each time, I kept running out of hte dressing room!” Jerry said.

Jimmy asked him about appearing on the old Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. “I was on it for six weeks,” Jerry said. He joked about the renaming of a comedy club “The Jerry Lewis Monastery,” saying “When you’re a Jew, that’s tough.”

Fallon mentioned that it was the 50th anniversary of The Nutty Professor, and now it is out in a special edition. Jerry Lewis told Fallon “It was quoted as one of the best films of the 20th century. We were 99 out of 100.” According to The Official Jerry Lewis Comedy Museum and Store site, the movie first was released in 1963 by Paramount.

“When you see these jokes and these bits,” Jimmy Fallon said, “they are so well written and well crafted. And you wrote them and crafted them. Like in The Errand Boy, when you improvised to the Count Bassie song –here, I’ll show a clip from it.” Fallon showed the black-and-white clip, which still holds up today.

Jerry Lewis told Fallon that he was a friend and fan of Count Bassie’s. Jimmy Fallon had the idea of doing the same sort of routine that Lewis did in The Errand Boy with The Roots playing their musical instruments — which they did. It was funny, though nothing can beat the original routine.

Back from break, Jimmy Fallon introduced his musical guest, Public Enemy, performing their hit Public Enemy #1. They gave a fantastic performance and proved that they were some of the best rappers in the business. The Roots played along with them, helping Public Enemy rock the studio out with their rapping and awesome musical abilities.

There were an eclectic mix of guests tonight on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, but a very good mix. His first guest was the lovely and classy actress from The Good Wife, Julianna Marguilies. Jimmy and Julianna were in the LOL skit, “Morning Announcements,” with Fallon as the principal of a high school. Unfortunately, the video of it was not posted at the time this article was completed. The second guest was the incredibly funny Jerry Lewis, who is having a comedy club renamed in his honor. Fallon’s musical guest was Public Enemy and they kicked butt and took names like the “Rap Gods” that they are, with a bit of assistance from The Roots.
