Sometimes the whole family decides to go away together, complete with aunties, uncles, cousins and all their children, and for those who travel to the United Kingdom in a big group this can make for a great family vacation. Whether in a huge, often historic, country home, a group of cottages, or in backpacker style, there are several options available for the larger group. Nestled among beautiful scenery and with every facility required, a traveler is spoiled for choice.
One perfect example is a large, but modern, country home at Loch Lomond up in the highlands of Scotland, with sweeping green and lush grounds, surrounded by that beautiful highland scenery.
With up to nine or ten bedrooms and all the modern conveniences, this is staying in style, while remaining affordable on a per person, per day basis.
How about a manor house, dating back to the 1500s, for a vacation surrounded by a little history? A house like this has genuine charm and character and is even a tad quirky in style and furnishings, while offering all the comforts and surrounded by a pretty and well-kept garden.
If preferring to be a little more separated from others in the group, there are holiday complexes on offer in the United Kingdom where it is possible to rent several cottages for the party, meaning that the older generation can have a bit of peace from the family members with babies and toddlers. One great example is Wringworthy Cottages down on the farm in Looe, Cornwall in the south of England. This option is perfect for the whole group, wishing to travel in the United Kingdom on a big family vacation.
A collection of eight beautiful stone cottages, nestled amongst acres of green and fresh countryside, close to the ocean and the quaint seaside village of Looe, this family-friendly property has an outdoor heated pool and a play area for the children. The children also have the chance to visit some of the friendly farm animals during their stay. The bigger kids are taken care of as well in the form of an indoor “play barn” with a pool table, table football, air hockey and more on offer.
Head up to the lovely Peak District in northern England, where Hurdlow Grange offers a group of luxury farmhouses and converted barns, perfect to sleep any combination of people with groups ranging from a mere four right up to 43 people. All the houses or barns on offer are a combination of both traditional and contemporary styles. Located close to the historic Hurdlow Village, some of the buildings date back over 300 years and wherever possible, the original features have been preserved.
The farmhouses and barns are dotted around in a five acre property with excellent walking and hiking locations, both on the property and in the Dovedale and Manifold Valleys close by, surrounded by simply gorgeous scenery.
Should the group of people involve a whole load of youngsters, happy to bunk in together for a fun vacation, there is a great option close by.
An award winning traditional Peak District pub offers camping as well as backpacker options in bunk barn accommodation. The Royal Oak is a great base to explore the surrounding countryside as well as being a charming country pub offering delicious homemade meals.

Whichever the option, travel to the United Kingdom offers great options for that big family vacation in both style and comfort.
