Apple Pay Competitor Confirms Hack of Customer Information

CurrentC, an app trying to become a competitor of Apple Pay and Google Wallet, has just confirmed that their program has been hacked in the last 36 hours and that customer E-mail information for the pilot program participants had been compromised. A warning was sent to the pilot program users from Merchant Consumer Exchange (MCX), the group of retailers developing the technology in order to move toward mobile payment systems in lieu of credit cards, which confirmed the hack. The company made a statement assuring users that security was a primary concern for them, but the program has taken a hit in terms of public perception with this hack, and the technology has not even been released to the public yet.
