Former Glee star Charice Pempengco is talking about gender and sexuality. The Filipina singer and past Glee actor plans on answering questions to do with her sexuality and gender in this coming Sunday’s Oprah: Where Are They Now episode.
It was only in recent times, that rumors had started which said the pop star, who revealed herself to be a lesbian in 2013, could be working on changing into a male. When Oprah asked Pempengco if the gossip was correct, Charice made clear that she was not exactly changing herself into to a male-male. However, she added that her soul was like a male. She stated that she had no plans to go all the way through where she altered everything on her body. Instead, she just wants to keep her hair a short length and wear guys clothes.
The vocalist, who performed in Glee during its second season as a foreign exchange student and whom Oprah once said was the most talented girl on Earth, also talked about being mixed up by her own sexuality when she was a very young child. She explained that when she was around age five, she knew something was different because she looked at a girl and felt weird. She said she had no idea what it was. However, after she turned 10 years old, she was able to understand her personal feelings and told herself that she was gay. She stated that she had finally figured out what was going on with her.
Pempengco has also been a sensation on YouTube and got personal with Oprah on her show when she talked about her sexuality and gender. Due to the actress so quickly changing her appearance after coming out, that is what caused many people to wonder if she had decided to go through gender transformation assignment?
The last time Charice sat down with Winfrey was in 2008. At that time, she was a young teen and spoke with the talk show giant on The Oprah Winfrey Show, reported several different news media sources. The singer’s look has changed dramatically since then, and she is going to talk about that radical change.
When Winfrey made her statement about Pempengco being so talented, Charice’s career immediately shot through the roof with a best selling album. However, her personal life started to fall apart. She became alienated from her parents, and in 2011 her father was stabbed to death. She then received a host of Internet criticism in 2012 when she began to change her appearance.
In 2013, Pempengco decided to come out to fans who were allegedly shocked about her admission. This is probably because Charice started her career with having more of a “normal” look. She dressed in a feminine way and had long hair, yet she feels her soul is male. Because of that her appearance has changed to look more masculine. She says she finally feels comfortable with the way she looks and dresses. She stated that cutting her hair and donning guy clothes would be the only things she would do. Her story is scheduled to air on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 9 p.m. Eastern/8 p.m. Central on OWN.
