Draco Malfoy is one of the most notorious villains from the Harry Potter universe and one of the most diabolical wizards to come from the Slytherin house at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Fans of the series may be shocked to know that the actor who played Draco Malfoy in all eight of the Harry Potter films, Tom Felton, has just been sorted into Slytherin’s rival wizarding house, Gryffindor.

Felton took to Twitter to announce that he had just recently joined the Harry Potter fan site, Pottermore, which is overseen by the author of the series, J.K. Rowling, herself. Felton’s Tweet stated that he had finally joined the popular fan site and was heartbroken because he had just found out that he had been sorted into the house of Gryffindor through the website. Although Draco Malfoy himself was surprised, the likes of the Harry Potter creator was not in shock at all.

Rowling, who has proven to be rather active on Twitter, garnering a few headlines for some of her more controversial tweets, responded to Felton’s statement on the social media site. Rowling’s tweet said that the author had, indeed, known the actor that plays Draco Malfoy would belong to Gryffindor for many years now. Rowling’s reasoning for keeping that from him was so she would not deter from his motivation as an actor to bring all of the diabolical nuances to the character of Draco Malfoy.

In addition to the tweet Felton sent out, he also took to Instagram to post a photo of the exact moment he found out the truth as to which Hogwarts house he belonged to. The photo shows the actor in front of laptop with a look of disbelief on his face as he stares at the screen, which blatantly says, “Gryffindor” on it. The photo has already received over eighty five thousand likes, proving the announcement was a fun-loving and humorous publicity stunt on Felton’s part. The act undoubtedly gave many Potter and Draco Malfoy fans a great sense of nostalgia as well, allowing the actor to gain some focal limelight for the time being.

Since the wrap of the final Harry Potter film, The Deathly Hallows – Part 2, Felton has long-since graduated from the wand-wielding likes of Draco Malfoy. On television, Felton can be seen in productions such as Labyrinth, Murder in the First and Full Circle while he is also featured in a number of major motion pictures including Rise of the Planet of the Apes and In Secret alongside American Horror Story actress Jessica Lange.

The popularity of an act as small as the Draco Malfoy actor joining the Pottermore community goes to show the immense amount of influence Rowling has created by bringing the world of Harry Potter to life. The author still continues to write within the wizarding world, posting a number of short stories featuring characters from the famed saga and providing updates on Harry and his friends, periodically. The author is also signed on to pen the screenplay for a new film based within the wizarding world of Harry Potter titled Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Many fans are surely surprised at the result of Draco Malfoy now belonging to Gryffindor, but alas, it is simply the actor and not the character that has made the transition. Individuals who desire to know what wizarding house they belong to can find out at Pottermore.com.
