The voice actor who plays Goofy in the Kingdom Hearts saga recently spoke out on the progress of the extremely anticipated sequel Kingdom Hearts III, stating that the title has great possibility of arriving later this year. Bill Farmer is the talented voiceover artist who portrays Goofy among a few other characters in the game and it is he that has garnered quite a bit of attention over what he most likely assumed was a simple tweet.
Responding to a series of fan questions, Farmer tweeted out a number of statements regarding Kingdom Hearts III. One of these statements was his answer to when the game would be made available to the public. Farmer stated that the cast and production team had been working on voice recordings for the title for the past few years now and he believed that the game would be released late 2015. This tweet immediately went viral as tons of hardcore Kingdom Hearts gamers exploded with excitement over the fact that Kingdom Hearts III’s release was just on the horizon.
Shortly after Farmer sent out this tweet and the internet had its monstrous wave of social media excitement, the developers of Kingdom Hearts III, Square Enix, took to Twitter to make a statement of their own. To many fans’ disappointment, the company tweeted that there had “been a Goof” and that the release date of Kingdom Hearts III is still unannounced. With the game switching over to the Unreal Engine in its developmental process and the extended amount speculation of what Disney worlds will be involved and whether or not Marvel and Star Wars characters will make an appearance, it only makes sense that Square Enix will take their time into carving out each and every detail into perfection for the fans.
Kingdom Hearts III has been a long time coming. The last true sequel, Kingdom Hearts II was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2005 – a full decade ago. There have been seven Kingdom Hearts titles released over the years for various platforms with two HD remakes of some of the earlier titles. The saga began with the original Kingdom Hearts released in 2002 for the PlayStation 2 and the latest title, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX, was released just last month for the PlayStation 3 and included a high definition remake of three of the later-released games in the saga. 1.5 HD ReMix was released in 2013 and was the high definition reincarnation of the first three games released in the saga.
Kingdom Hearts III will be the first title from the saga that will be made available for next-generation gaming consoles. It is said that it will be released for the PlayStation 4 as well as the Xbox One. The inclusion of characters from Frozen, Star Wars and the Marvel universe have been a hot topic of conversation regarding the title as Disney now has the rights to LucasArts and Marvel and it only seems natural to add in the success of Frozen to the world of Kingdom Hearts.
There have been many speculations on the release date of Kingdom Hearts III, but it seems as if when gamers will be able to grab ahold of the title will remain a mystery for a bit longer. All nine of the aforementioned Kingdom Hearts games are available wherever video games are sold.
