Elementary‘Elementary’ is a popular show on CBS, one of the most highly watched TV networks. It first premiered in 2012 and is currently still running in the third season. The most asked question is will ‘Elementary’ stay or go, into a fourth season? The show is about a bizarre British detective also, looked as the modern Sherlock Holmes and his partner in crime Dr. Joan Watson, as each episode shows these two partners solve the crimes together in New York City. This theme has been intriguing to many, as who does not love a good mystery? Especially as the co-stars of this show are Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu.

The crime scenes take place in New York City, but Holmes has a non-traditional way of solving them. Together they work through crimes and personal issues. Their relationship is not a traditional partnership. Holmes works as a consultant on the crime scenes and is quite eccentric in his thoughts and the way he solves these mysteries. Together the main characters work through their conflicts and agree to disagree on their views, each having their own. In 2013-2014, the show was rated number 23 of 50 on the most watched shows list with 11.74 million viewers. The ratings have declined since.

Currently sitting pretty in the third season, the show’s cast is working hard to get a renewal. According to CBS resources, if the show’s ratings do not fall too low, the show still has a chance of renewing for a syndication package. Ratings are important in the demographic category of ages 18 to 49. Previously, the viewers have significantly made this show a winner. However, since the conception of the show, ratings have declined from 11.74 million viewers to seven point four nine million viewers. Today’s viewers are a big demographic, between the college adults and the working adults. This requires a show to get the attention of the viewers to keep them glued to the screen, episode after episode. These are the realities that will determine whether ‘Elementary’ will go, or stay on the number one rated network.

Season four is still a mystery and will be determined most likely by the end of 2015, but there is still a chance that the show will go in either direction. Viewers do not get discouraged, as the show still has some mystery, some sarcasm and a lot of chemistry between Holmes and Watson. Chemistry is always good and it will hopefully keep the viewers begging for more and hoping for another season.

Currently, the time slot for ‘Elementary’ is Thursday nights at 10 p.m. The competing networks are ABC with ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ and NBC’s ‘Allegiance’ in the same slot as ‘Elementary’ with ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ and ‘Elementary’ being the top competitors for the time slot. There were only about point 49 million viewers with ABC leading in the time slot. The big surprise will be the announcement of which show will come back for more TV time or go quietly into the night. So far, it is the untold mystery of whether ‘Elementary’ will stay or go for round four of TV competition. The viewers will have to wait to see and will most likely be surprised, either way.
