Jimmy Fallon and Pharrell Williams Were in ‘Afro & Deziak’ Skit

Jimmy Fallon

On the Tonight Show this Wednesday, April Fool’s day, host Jimmy Fallon’s guests were The Voice coach and Happy singer, Pharrell Williams, as well as Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, who talked with Fallon about the TV series, A.D., on the New Testament. Later on in the show, Fallon did a cool skit with Pharrell, called Afro & Deziak. The musical guest of the Tonight Show was Milky Chance.

Jimmy Fallon started off the episode of the Tonight Show by welcoming his studio audience to the Tonight Show. He then joked about President Obama reducing the sentences of eight criminals. “It was the first time someone said ‘Thanks, Obama!’ and meant it,” Fallon said.

Fallon then made a few jokes about supposed news stories about Hillary Clinton. “a lot of people want to make Hillary Clinton look bad,” he said. He also joked about possible Republican presidential candidates.

“Scott Walker’s dog allergy might make him less popular with voters,” Fallon said, then he played a video of someone pretending to be Scott Walker, and sneezing every once in a while.

He mentioned that “goose droppings” are a problem in Washington, D.C., and said that Biden said “Actually, I have a confession to make.”

“This made me laugh. Yesterday, a couple of newscasters were attempting to do a newscast together.” Eventually, the male newscaster said “Please don’t touch me ever again.”

Then, Jimmy Fallon showed a clip of a Girl Scout asking Chris Christie “What’s your favorite dessert?” Chris Christie told her and everyone in his audience to tune in tomorrow night to the Tonight Show to hear the answer. Jimmy Fallon said “Seriously, it’s all of them.”

Jimmy Fallon said that tomorrow night is the first episode of his new series on Spike TV, Lip Sync Battle. He will be going head-to-head against Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He said that tomorrow night, Michelle Obama will be on. Tonight, Pharrell Williams, Mark Burnett, Roma Downey, and musical artist Milky Chance will be the guests.

After that, Jimmy Fallon read off some Audience Suggestions. He sent out a staff member to ask people what their plans for Easter were, but first he had them eat some Peeps. They tried to talk with tier mouths full, but had great difficulty doing so.

“Hey, Jimmy, it’s April Fool’s Day — did you play any pranks on anyone?” was on another card. Fallon said that he took a french fry from a box of french fries staff writer, Doug Keareny, had, while Doug was in the restroom. Kearney then took a baseball bat and started destroying everything in the office, until Fallon told him he played a April Fool’s joke and that he was the one who had taken one of his fries.

Next, Jimmy Fallon showed a clip of one of the producers dancing a Gangnam Style dance. It was pretty hilarious!

Another suggestion was “Hey, Jimmy, I’m so excited about the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, but could you break down the season like a rap song?” Jimmy Fallon had one of the members of The Roots do a rap song based on the plot of Game of Thrones. He did a fantastic job! Fallon said “You are the best! Stick around and we’ll be right back with Pharrell Williams!”

After a commercial break, Jimmy Fallon introduced Pharrell Williams. He was wearing a beret. Jimmy Fallon showed a photo of Pharrell when he was a little boy, with a big Afro. “Do you still do the Moonwalk?” Fallon asked.

“Of course,” Pharrell answered. “I have multiple holes in my socks because of that.” Pharrell told Fallon he had been recently working producing music by Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and Missy Elliot. Pharrell told Fallon about Missy Elliot “I didn’t know that all of the visual elements in those videos were hers.”

Jimmy Fallon asked Pharrell about “bionic yarn” made out of plastic, wrapped in yarn. “Instead of making new plastic and new polyester, why don’t we use what we already have?” Pharrell asked, rhetorically. He added “I’m not a tree hugger, though.”

Fallon then asked him about this season of The Voice. “You’ve got the team to beat!” Fallon said.

Pharrell told him that Blake has an accent that allows him to “say anything and get away with it.” Pharrell said that Sawyer Fredricks sounded “like a 60-year-old black guy.” The Tonight Show then headed to more commercials.

When the Tonight Show returned, Jimmy Fallon talked with Pharrel about a TV series called The American Power Hour. They mentioned a duo called Afro & Deziak, and Fallon said he had a clip of them. He showed a clip of the duo singing Girl I’m Gonna Get You in the Mood. Of course, it was actually Pharrell and Fallon singing.

“That was a great song!” Fallon said. “I actually found a second clip, of Afro & Deziak singing Girl, I Wanna Give You What I Got,” Fallon said. He showed the clip, then said that “Believe it or not, we actually found another clip. This last one is simply titled, Girl.” Pharrell was dressed all in pink with an Afro. It was AMAZING!

Pharrell did a few dance moves at the end of the clip. “Classic stuff right there,” Fallon said. Both he and Pharrell were dressed as they had been dressed in the skit. The Tonight Show then went to yet another commercial break.

Jimmy Fallon said that “Starting this Sunday, A.D.: The Bible Continues will begin!” Mark Burnett has been married to Roma for a few years now. Fallon compared Mark’s beard to the ones of the Robertsons on Duck Dynasty. Roma gave Jimmy a fake grey beard to wear.

“We’ve often joked that the real miracle is that we’re still together and talking to each other,” Roma said, about herself and Mark.

“It could be called ‘House of Cards A.D.,'” Burnett said. Then, Fallon showed a clip from A.D.: The Bible Continues. Peter was saying that he felt “pain” and “shame,” now that Jesus was dead. He said “I so want to be able to tell him ‘I’m sorry.'”

It was another Hump Day today, and the Tonight Show helped viewers get over the mid-week hump with a fantastic episode tonight. Pharrell Williams was Fallon’s first guest, and he talked with Fallon about The Voice and he was also in a funny skit with Fallon, called Afro & Deziak. Then, guests Mark Burnett and his wife, Roma Downey, talked with host Jimmy Fallon about the new series based on the New Testament which will premiere this Easter Sunday, A.D.: The Bible Continues.
