Jimmy Fallon

On the Tonight Show this Thursday, the last day of April, Jimmy Fallon had on the show as his first guest actress Scarlett Johansson from the movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron. She plays Black Widow in it. Fallon played Box of Lies with her later in the show. His second guest was the comedian, David Steinberg. The musical guest of the evening on the Tonight Show was the amazing band, Blur.

Host Jimmy Fallon was greeted by applause and a standing ovation as he walked out onto the stage tonight to do his monologue. He joked about subjects like the 2016 race to the White House. “Bernie Sanders officially announced his campaign slogans today.” ‘Bernie 2016: I’ve Always Wanted to Meet Hillary Clinton,’ and ‘Bernie 2016: Forget the Weekend — Why Not Spend the Next Four Years With Bernie?’ were two of the slogans Jimmy Fallon mentioned.

Next, Fallon showed a humorous clip of Senator Ted Cruz supposedly speaking in extremely fractured Spanish. He then joked about Courteny Cox saying that David Schwimmer is the main reason why the cast of Friends are not reuniting. Jimmy Fallon asked Schwimmer over the phone about if he was the reason there would not be a Friends reunion. It was not, of course, the real Schwimmer on the phone, but the guy kept calling Fallon “Rach.”

“Let’s check out what’s going on in sports. The Philadelphia Eagles can still write off hiring Tim Tebow as a ‘charitable donation,'” Fallon said.

Then, Jimmy Fallon mentioned that “From Avengers: Age of Ultron, Scarlett Johansson is here! Plus, this guy is so funny — comedian, director — David Steinberg is here! Also, for the first time in over 15 years on American TV, Blur is performing!”

“It’s time for ‘Tonight Show Hashtags,'” Fallon said. This week, the hashtag was #MyDumbFight. One of the tweets he received was “I got into a fight with my dad because he insisted that the phrase ‘My bad’ was really ‘My bag.'” Another one was “My friend and I were outside making it look as if our shadows were fighting and I accidentally punched him.” Still another was “My friend and I argued about who would be hotter as a girl.” Yet another was “My wife and I got into a fight about if Mickey and Minnie Mouse were married or just dating.”

Fallon called up a lady from the studio audience to read her tweet and she said she and her boyfriend had an argument over what they should call their dog. They ended up calling it “Tom Hanks.”

After a commercial break, Jimmy Fallon introduced actress Scarlett Johansson. She is Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and she will be also hosting Saturday Night Live this coming Saturday.

Fallon talked with Scarlett about having met her walking outside of a hotel he was staying at, and he thought that she recommended a restaurant called Sugarfish. There was sushi there, which Fallon actually enjoyed eating. He said that right next to him was Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer.

“We have to talk about the new Avengers movie,” Fallon said.

“Yes, we have to,” she agreed. Fallon held up a magazine with Johannson’s face on it. He said that “I saw the film, and it was super fun!” Then, he introduced a clip from the movie, featuring Thor, Johansson as the Black Widow and Hawkeye. After that, Fallon challenged her to a game of Box of Lies. They will play it right after another commercial break.

Jimmy Fallon explained the rules, then Scarlett chose Box 4. She looked inside of it and said “No way, dude!” Inside was a figure of her as the Black Widow and Gumby, sitting on a bench. She said “It’s a hot dog bun shaped like the Hulk.”

Fallon said “A hot dog bun in the shape of the Hulk? How is that even possible? I’m going to say you lie!” Since she did lie and Fallon called her on it, he got the first point.

Jimmy Fallon’s box contained a mannequin head with diamond eyes and googles covering the head’s eyes. “It’s useful because it’s fun,” he said.

“I can’t imagine anyone would go to that trouble. No, wait –did Wiz Khalifa make it? I’m going to say you’re lying,” she said. He was telling the truth, so Fallon won; but, they went ahead, anyway.

There was something in a Starbucks cup, baked beans. Scarlett said “It is a plastic cup filled with — beans. Baked beans. It’s a cup of baked beans.”

“Beans spilled everywhere — it would be difficult to clean up. I can’t see that happening. You — LIAR!” Jimmy Fallon said, but Scarlett was telling the truth. Fallon said that she was the winner of the game.

More commercials followed. When the Tonight Show came back on, Jimmy Fallon introduced the second guest, comedian David Steinberg. Fallon said that Steinberg’s show, Inside Comedy, will be starting its fourth season. “You’ve been on the show with Johnny how many times?” Fallon asked him.

“!40, I think,” Steinberg replied. He talked with Fallon about his early days giving shows at comedy clubs, and talking with Richard Pryor about comedy. Steinberg said that Richard Pryor changed within two weeks, and made an “unbelievable transition” into being one of the most innovative comedians around.

They also talked about some of the guests on Inside Comedy. Jimmy Fallon was one, and Michael Keaton, Cheech & Chong, Wanda Sykes, Dan Aykroyd, Bryan Cranston, and others. Steinberg said “I think that Cheech & Chong were high when I was talking to them!”

After that, and yet another commercial break, Jimmy Fallon introduced the musical guest of the Tonight Show, Blur. “Performing Ong Ong from their album, The Magic Whip, please welcome Blur!” Fallon said. Blur sounded great! It is kind of surprising that they have not been on American TV for so many years. The song was catchy, and just might become a hit for them.

Another Thursday and another Thursday night episode of the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has come and gone, leaving behind memories of some of the highlights of the Tonight Show behind. There was Scarlett Johansson playing the game, Box of Lies, with Jimmy Fallon; his interview with his second guest, David Steinberg; and, the awesome performance by the U.K. band, Blur.
