The Tonight Show this Wednesday, May 6, was a great addition to the week, as Jimmy Fallon’s guests were actress Kerry Washington from Scandal and Jesse Tyler Ferguson from Modern Family. Fallon also played a game of Lip Flip with Kerry in the episode, flipping his lips with hers. The musical guest of the Tonight Show was Noel Gallagher, of Oasis, with his current band, High Flyin’ Birds.

Jimmy Fallon’s monologue was terrific. He joked about topics like Hillary Clinton discussing immigration at a campaign stop in Las Vegas. Fallon also said “It is one of the most diverse fields that a Presidential election has ever seen, it’s like a college brochure of Presidential elections.”

Jimmy Fallon then joked about Mike Huckabee giving a speech talking about getting a BB gun when he was five “and never thinking of killing someone.” Fallon said things were getting pretty bad when a Presidential candidate thought he was making a good point by bragging that he has never felt like killing someone.

Jimmy Fallon closed his monologue with a joke about the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight, which seemed to be more of a hugging match rather than a boxing match, at times. Fallon said that Mayweather mentioned there might be a re-match. He joked “Mayweather/Pacquiao 2: Maybe They’ll Kiss.”

After that, Jimmy Fallon sent an employee of the show out to ask people on the street about the history of Cinco De Mayo, but…he never actually got to the question. He just kept rambling on, talking about the history of the holiday. He even rambled on in Spanish with some of the people. At the end of asking one person about the holiday, he said “What’s up?” but he did not even let the guy respond to that particular question.

At his desk, Fallon said that Jane Fonda and U2 would be two guests coming up. Then, he announced that tonight’s guest will be Olivia Pope from Scandal, Kerry Washington. They will also do a Lip Flip. From a production of “The Tempest” and also the TV sitcom, Modern Family, Jesse Tyler Ferguson will be the second guest. Noel Gallagher and his band will be the musical performers tonight, he added.

After that, Fallon did his “Tonight Show Superlatives,” bit about NHL players. He said what some of the NHL players were voted Most Likely to Be or Do. It was a funny bit, but it was one that was very visual, and loses something if just the punch lines are given. The Tonight Show then went to a commercial break.

When the Tonight Show came back, Jimmy Fallon introduced Kerry Washington. He said “We love you! They love you!” as the audience applauded her. He held up a copy of Glamour magazine with her picture and those of two other actresses from Scandal on the cover.

Kerry Washington talked about having seen Rihanna perform live, and she said that she was a mom, now. Her daughter is one years old.

Jimmy Fallon asked her about the After Party where Rihanna was, and she talked about going to it. Questlove was there, as well. Kerry said when Questlove left, she left, “because everyone knows that the party always follows him.”

Then, Fallon and Kerry Washington discussed the season finale of Scandal, when something “explosive” is apparently going to happen. “Is there going to be an explosion?” Fallon asked.

Kerry told him “Of sorts. After I read the script, I asked Shonda ‘How can there even be another season after this?'” Kerry did not elaborate by providing any further details. The season finale will be on May 14. Fallon challenged her to a game of Lip Flip after the next commercial break, and she accepted the challenge.

Following the break, Jimmy Fallon and Kerry Washington “flipped lips” with each other in a game of Lip Flip. They had fun making it look as if the other person was saying ridiculous things, as if Kerry was using Fallon’s mouth to interview herself. Fallon has done this bit before, with other celebrities, and it is always pretty funny. They made each other sing commercial jingles and sing crazy songs, like one that Fallon had Kerry sing, about Scandal, to the tune of Elton John’s hit, Candle in the Wind. It began with the words “Goodbye, Olivia Pope…”

After the Tonight Show came back, Jimmy Fallon introduced Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Fallon was now wearing a bow tie, and Jesse thanked him for wearing it “for marriage equality.” Fallon told him “Congrats for everything” including being nominated for an Emmy for his acting on Modern Family.

“Is this the sixth season of Modern Family?” Fallon asked.

“Yeah — we’re wrapping up filming in August.” Ferguson also mentioned that tomorrow, Sofia Vergara will be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also told Fallon that he had seen Modern Family while in Italy.

Jimmy Fallon asked him about the Shakespeare play he will be in, “The Tempest.” Ferguson said “Yeah, it’s about a really, really bad storm.” He said that is how he described the play to his mom, also. It will be performed in a park, and if it rains, they just have to put up with getting drenched.

More commercials ensued, and then host Jimmy Fallon introduced the Tonight Show‘s musical guest, Noel Gallagher, who was the lead singer of Oasis, with his band, High Flyin’ Birds. Fallon said that “This guy has sold over 70 million albums.” Noel Gallagher sang a song from his new album, Chasing Yesterday. He sounded great, and really rocked the studio audience out with his performance.
