Jessica Michelle Ewing, a former student of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, which is popularly known as Virginia Tech, has been jailed for 45 years for killing her lover on date night. The victim reportedly wore sweats to date night, and this was one of the reasons given by Ewing, that got things to go haywire on the fateful night. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Samantha Shrestha, who was strangled to death by her apparent lover, Ewing, who is 24-years-old. Shrestha was studying biology, and was a fellow student of the same Virginia Tech Institute as Ewing.

Virginia TechEwing described the sequence of events that transpired on the date night in detail during her sentencing. The romantic date, and the eventual murder, took place on February 7, 2014. She wept on the witness stand as she said that her intention was not to kill Shrestha. She narrated the incident in the court in Christianburg, Virgina on Monday June 1, 2015.

Ewing, the former student of Virginia Tech, has been sentenced to jail for 45 years for strangling her lover who wore sweats and a t-shirt to date night. Ewing said that she was extremely disappointed to see her lover wearing her sweats, and unprepared for date night when she showed up at Shrestha’s apartment. It has been reported that Ewing had brought a bottle of wine along with some whipped cream, and she was wearing a dress. This made Ewing a bit upset right from the start as Shrestha apparently did not share the enthusiasm.

However, the two lovers enjoyed the evening together. They drank the wine that Ewing had brought with her, and also had sex after that. Things started to go haywire when the two lovers started indulging in some after-sex banter. Ewing recollected that she made a poor teasing comment, and called Shrestha a ‘spoiled b****.’ This was the moment when things turned sour, and the two lovers got into an argument and name-calling of sorts.

Virginia TechEwing also confessed in her statement to the court that she strangled Shrestha when they started fighting, and physically hitting one another. This was after Shrestha said that she was merely experimenting with her sexuality, while she was with Ewing. Ewing also informed the court that she was in love with Shrestha. She said that she could not believe that her lover just thought of her as an experiment.

Ewing said that she felt very hurt after Shrestha’s comment, and then in a fit of rage, strangled her to death. She also mentioned in the court that people kill each other over the most insane and petty things. It was also reported that in the month of February that, Ewing had entered an Alford plea to Shrestha’s first degree murder. An Alford plea suggests that the defendant does not admit guilt in the case. However, the defendant acknowledges that the prosecution has enough amount of evidence to prove him or her guilty beyond any reasonable doubt. Ewing, the former Virginia Tech student, has been sentenced to jail for 45 Years for murdering her lover who wore sweats and a t-shirt to date night.
