Courtney Vance Wins Lead Actor in Limited Series or Movie: 2016 Emmy Awards

The 68th annual Emmy Awards aired Sept. 18, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. EDT. The excitement built as the audience waited for Amy Poehler and Tina Fey to announce the winner of the Emmy Award. Courtney B. Vance was the winner of the Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie award for his role in “The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”

Nominees for Lead Actor in a Series or Movie

  • HBO – “All The Way” Bryan Cranston as Lyndon B. Johnson
  • BBC America – “Luther” Idris Elba as DCI John Luther
  • AMC – “The Night Manager” Tom Hiddleston as Johnathan Pine
  • FX Network – “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” Courtney B. Vance as Jonnie Cochran and Cuba Gooding, Jr. as O.J. Simpson
  • PBS’ – Sherlock: “The Abominable Bride (Masterpiece)” Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes

Nominees were announced on July 14, 2016, in a ceremony hosted by the Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum and Anthony Anderson from the ABC television show “Black-ish.”

According to ABC, Jimmy Kimmel is hosting this evening’s events from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. The awards went to programs that aired between June 1, 2015, and May 31, 2016.
