Parkland
A day after a video was found on YouTube from a comedy set C.K. did at Governor’s Comedy Club that showed C.K mocking Parkland shooting victims, Parkland survivors and parents of the victims have responded.

On February 14, 2018, a gunman went into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School located in Parkland, Florida, opened fire and killed 14 students and 3 teachers.

C.K stated:

They testify in front of Congress, these kids? What are they doing?” he said. “You’re young, you should be crazy, you should be unhinged, not in a suit … you’re not interesting. Because you went to a high school where kids got shot? Why does that mean I have to listen to you? … You didn’t get shot, you pushed some fat kid in the way, and now I’ve got to listen to you talking?

Some people continued to support C.K. such as James Dolce owner of the Long Island, New York’s Governor’s Comedy Club who states he will continue to have his door open for him. He felt that he is a comic genius and can do and say whatever he wants. He also felt that the patrons of the club did not mind, and when one sees a C.K. show you never know what you are going to get. He also thought that it was possible what C.K said were taken out of context.

Parkland Survivors and family members came out in Twitter against C.K.’s mocking behavior.

Fred Guttenberg, father of Jaime Guttenberg was killed in the Parkland Shooting. His son was also present but survived. He tweeted on Monday that he did not find what he said humorously by saying if you know Louis C.K., please tell him this. My daughter was killed in the shooting at Parkland. Son ran from bullets. The loss is dealt with every day. Come to my house and tell me your jokes in person.

Aalayah Eastmond, who was her survivor shared her story at the March for Our Lives and also spoke to the Congress stated Louis C.K. Since you like making fun of me and the other survivors, I’m right here. Keep it in your pants.

Eastmond may have been referring to the 2017 accusations of five women who accused C.K of sexual misconduct which dated back 15 years which included C.K. masturbating while on the phone.

Kyra Parrow a shooting survivor tweeted eating magic mushrooms and doing jello shots might have been cool at age 18, but we won’t be able to do that after seeing our schoolmates in coffins due to gun violence which is preventable.

Other entertainers and comedians spoke out against C.K. on Twitter.

Andy Richter stated that What is the worse style of comedy? When older white men are angry that they can’t say or do anything they want.

Director Judd Apatow stated that it is easier to laugh at people who are vulnerable than to show them concern and love or look at what causes them pain.

Not only did Louis C.K. mock the survivors of Parkland, but also in a 2011 HBO special, he was taped saying the N-Word.
