Ali Fatima Ali, one of the stars of the television show ‘Top Chef: Season 15,’ died on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 from cancer. She was 29 years old.

Chef Bruce Kalman, who was a friend of Ali, posted on his Instagram that it was with a sad heart that everybody had to say goodbye to Ali because she lost her cancer battle. He also wrote that he would always love her and she would always be in his heart. He continued that he would never forget the fun times they had especially the interview they conducted during the tailgating episode of ‘Top Chef’ discussing Taylor Swift, stadiums and football.

Ali revealed on Jan. 11 to her fans Instagram that her health was rapidly declining. The chef told her fans that she did not post for a long time and they could probably figure out why. She also posted a picture of herself in a hospital bed. Ali added that she was sick and getting sicker and needed prayers.

Ali was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the soft tissue and bones called Ewing’s sarcoma. In Feb. 2018 she announced her cancer was in remission.

On Oct. 2018 Ali announced that in an essay she wrote in ‘Healthyish’ that her cancer had returned. She wrote cancer cells have returned to her femur bone and left hip and her oncologist told the Top Chef she had about a year to live. Chemotherapy and other treatment would not extend her life.

Ali resided in New York and in 2013 was the winner of ‘Chopped.’ She appeared in 2017 on ‘Top Chef,’ where she was voted fan favorite. The chef also appeared on ‘General Hospital.’
