It is with great sadness that we announce the passing tonight of Kim English.

English’s discography includes several songs that are widely recognized as all-time classics in the house music genre.

She had a unique ability both through her singing and songwriting talents to inspire people to dance and also celebrate the joys of God and religion.

She was a deeply religious and devoted member of the Family Christian Center in Munster, Indiana.

Even though she had many opportunities to travel the globe as a singer, she remained a devoted family member and member of her church and never permitted herself to be distracted from the path she felt was right for her.

Between 1999 and 2002, five tracks from English hit on the Dance Charts of Billboard number 1 including “Missing You,” “It Makes a Difference,” and “Unspeakable Joy.” In 2007, she released “My Destiny” which would be her last Club hit.

English began her musical career in gospel and has worked with some of the most prominent House Music Producers in the ’90s including Byron Stingily of Ten City and Byron Burke.

English was an iconic figure in the LGBT community and was regularly seen performing at various pride events.

British DJ/Remixer/Producer Wayne G told the Gay Star News that the first time he heard English was when he started his career in 1994 as a DJ.

In 2000 he met her multiple times when he toured the United States and the singer performed with him several times.

He added that she was always a true professional, had a one of a kind voice, and her musical lyrics spiritually connected on the dance floor. Adding, English was a true diva.

‘X Factor’s Peyton tweeted on Twitter, that English was his dance music colleague, an accomplished songwriter and vocalist, whose death will shock many of her fans all over the world who were touched by the power and soul in her
music.

Grammy Nominee StoneBridge said In my days as an upcoming house DJ days in Stockholm clubs, Kim English songs were a staple. It’s very sad that one of my early icons passed away.
