
Zayed Khan, The Bangladesh Fil Artistes’ Association general secretary announced that renowned actor and comedian Abdus Samad, better known as Tele Samad died on April 6, 2019, at 1:30 pm BDT at Square Hospitals in Dhaka. He was 74 years old.
Kahn continued by saying for several years, Samad had been inflicted with diseases associated with age, being hospitalized in October and November 2018.
In 2017, Samad underwent bypass surgery in the United States.
On Dec. 21, 2018, Samad entered the Intensive Care Unit at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dakah (BSMMU). He was transferred from Square Hospital’s High Dependency Unit. After his hemoglobin count began to drop, he was transferred to BSSMMU.
Samad started his movie career in the Nazrul Islam film “Kar Bou.” He shot to superstardom for his role in the 1973 film “Paye Cholar Path.”
Other films he is known for are: “Moina Moti,” “Ondho Prem,” and “Mona Pagla.” His last film role was in the Animesh Aich directed film “Zero Degree” released in 2015.
Samed has also appeared in over 50 Bangladeshi movies in the role of playback singer.
On April 6, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep sorrow and shock over the death of the renowned comedian and actor.
In a statement of condolence, she prayed for Samad’s eternal salvation for his recently departed soul and expressed her sympathy to his bereaved family.
President M Abdul Hamid released a statement saying all people in the country will remember Samad’s contribution to movies for many years to come.
