Madonna Loses Court Appeal to Block the Sale of Tupac Letter

MadonnaTMZ is reporting that they obtained legal documentation showing that Madonna lost her appeal to prevent the sale of a letter she received from Tupac Shakur.

On June 4, 2019, a New York State Appeals Court ruled that the Material Girl could not pursue claims against her friend and art consultant Darlene Lutz or the auction house located online at GottaHaveRockandRoll.com.

Lutz consigned Madonna’s items to the auction house for sale.

The court ruling permits the sale of personal and intimate items from Madonna, including the infamous breakup letter from her then-boyfriend Tupac.

TMZ reported in 2018 a judge threw out Madonna’s lawsuit which tried to stop the sale of the letter. The judge said that Madonna signed a release in 2004 stating she would not be permitted to sue if the letter was to be sold.

On June 4 the New York appellate court in a 5-0 decision upheld the original ruling from the judge. The court said the claims filed by Madonna are blocked by the release she signed was very broad.

Tupac wrote in the breakup letter to Madonna, which was handwritten that he had to end the sexual relationship he had with her due to the fact that she was white.

The letter will be put up for auction in July.
