Elaine Hoem was inspired to write “Everyday Soul Dances: A Guide to Soulful Living in the Midst of Uncertain Times.” This timely book invites readers to explore spiritual attributes like courage, faith, creativity, and unlimited potential that resides in everyone. It weaves “together ancient strands of yogic ways and current psychological knowledge.” She discusses “teachings from the ancient times that there is one sacred and universal consciousness that resides in everybody and everything.”

During an interview with GLV, Hoem said, “Everyday Soul Dances is about love. It’s about light. It’s about embodying god-consciousness.” Referencing Holocaust diarist Anne Frank’s belief that everyone’s heart is good, Hoem added: “We have a piece of goodness inside of us, every one of us. So, when we know we don’t have to judge another person’s character because we are all created with this one amazing lifeforce, we know that everything is possible.”

Readers will notice an abundance of italics throughout “Everyday Soul Dances.” The author explained why: “In the book’s introduction, my first sentence says I never planned to write a book, and that was the truth. Yet, I was living in Tahoe and could walk to the lake. So, I was in this idyllic place, and I started receiving these messages from the energies I call the divine feminine, the mother, the healer of the world.” But, like most people who do not take time to listen to their higher power, she did not hear the messages — until she decided to pay attention.

“She, the divine mother, told me to write the book. She gave me the name and the first words, which you will find in the first chapter. They are her words. They are all italics so that they’re easily distinguished from mine.”

Additionally, Hoem uses italics as prompts for contemplation. She did this to encourage readers to get the most out of “Everyday Soul Dances” teachings. The author suggests, “Take my questions and answer them in their journals so they can go deeper in terms of how the words of that chapter fit with their lives.”

Remember that this book guides people to their inner world is vital, Hoem explained. As a result, “There may be a time in which the contemplations and meditations open unexplored parts of your psyche that might cause confusion or fear.”

“If such experiences happen in your explorations of these words and have any difficulty integrating them in a calm way, please schedule some time with a psychotherapist who has familiarity with the spiritual journey and who can help you heal whatever challenges you are facing.”

Meditation

Moreover, she included nine meditations designed to promote a sense of calm, peace, and balance, which can benefit emotional well-being and overall health. The words for each are in the Appendix, pages 322 to 355. As a bonus, these meditations can be listened to on the “Everyday Soul Dances” website.

When asked if she preferred worded or sound-based meditation formats, Hoem responded: “When people are starting to meditate, they really like the guided imagery. I still do some guided imagery, but I’ve meditated for so many years now that I go directly into meditation, and everything else just goes away.”

“However, when I teach meditation, I always guide them because my words can be hypnotic and evocative. That helps people to go into themselves. As you know, the words are just a bridge.”

Furthermore, every section of “Everyday Soul Dances” has a lot of information to unpack. Hoem suggested that after reading the first chapter, “Listen To The Words Of The Mother,” people might want to look at personally relatable chapters or choose those they wish to reinforce.

Elaine Hoem worked as a psychotherapist for nearly 50 years. She teaches meditation and works as a retreat leader and life coach. In preparation for writing “Everyday Soul Dances,” she looked more deeply into her soul and reflected on all she found.

“As a result, I became even more dedicated to the paths that are written in the book. I found myself growing in awareness of what a large and vital part of the Divine Feminine plays in all of our lives.”

“Once I invited “[the Divine Feminine] in, I became more centered in my Self and my place in the world. My life became more graceful.”

Hoem’s “Everyday Soul Dances” message is for people longing to develop a deeper sense of spirituality. She is excited to share her journey and to guide others along their path.
