Gaga Likely to Surpass Britney Spears’ Billion-Dollar Perfume Empire
Lady Gaga says, Blood and semen is in each bottle of “Fame,” but it doesn’t smell like it. You just get sort of the ‘after’ feeling of sex from the semen, and the blood is sort of primal.
If the pop idol plans to introduce her new perfume with such a breathe taking introduction, Gaga will likely to surpass Britney Spears’ billion-dollar perfume empire, which has earned the singer an estimated $1.5billion according to Mail Online.
Gaga launched “Fame” on Thursday, installing herself in a giant perfume bottle and then getting a tattoo on her newly shaved head, as Mother Monster prepared to unveil her own fragrance.
Then the 26-year-old star arrived at the Guggenheim Museumon on the last day of the New York Fashion Week curled up in the bottom of the oversized bottle, with an opening for guests to put their hands inside.
A sign on the bottle read, “Touch Lady Gaga’s hand, but please don’t wake her.”
Party-goer Karen Menge: “Her fingers were cool to the touch. Even though she seemed to be in an unconscious state, you felt that somehow you were communicating with her.
Gaga lay in motionless for an hour before waking up to the David Bowie hit Fame.
The gathered glitterati then watched as Hollywood tattoo guru Mark Mahoney and assistant Wes Brown inked a design on her head.
Mark revealed: “It’s kind of a Renaissance era cherub, a nod to her Italian heritage.”

It read: “In the spirit of Gaga’s nostalgic aesthetic, we inspire you to honor her dedication to this fragrance and celebrate your shared passion for fashion.”
In other words, come for some free booze and a bottle of smellies.
Lady Gaga Fame, represents the dark and light aspects of celebrity, embodies sensuality and will attract lovers to the wearer, the star says.
“I wanted it to be a very slutty perfume. Because that is sort of the addictive nature of fame that it is, it is seductive,” the award-winning singer/songwriter whose debut album was titled The Fame, said in an interview that aired on “Good Morning America.”
Gaga told “GMA” anchor Lara Spencer that she wanted a fragrance “that was desirable, and which is quite nice for not only just, you know, a young girl like me, but for any woman that wants to go home to their husband and lay down and feel like a queen.”
Last year the singer told “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” in Australia that the scent would smell “like an expensive hooker” and that it would feature fragrance notes of “blood and semen.”
“But it doesn’t smell like it,” she told the show then. “You just get sort of the after feeling of sex from the semen and the blood is sort of primal. And the blood was taken from my own blood sample, so it’s like a sense of having me on your skin,” she said.
Lady Gaga Fame, billed as “The First Ever Black Eau de Parfum,” is a black perfume that turns clear once it is spritzed. The description on the purple and black bottle lists the fragrance’s ingredients as “tears of belladonna, crushed heart of tiger orchidea with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot and the combinative essences of saffron and honey drops.”
Speaking more about the fragrance to “GMA,” Gaga added: “What I like about it for me is I love the smell of apricot … And I love the belladonna smell because it has a dangerous sort of muskiness to it. It’s a plant that can kill you but also smells quite delicious. And I also really love the honey drops. These are all just things that I really like to eat also. They’re things that I would eat during sex as well as wear, if that makes any sense.”
“The actual smell is something that I, Gaga, would wear to seduce someone,” she said.
Gaga stunned fans in July with her ad campaign for the fragrance, in which she appears naked in posters (save for a black face mask and strategically placed tiny figures of men crawling over her body).
She said she worked hard on creating the perfume — made by Coty — because it meant a great deal to her as an artist, and she wanted to offer her fans the best.
“I have always felt disappointed by celebrity fragrances because they seem to ride on the air of amateur or cheap, like the fans don’t deserve the same as someone buying a fragrance at Chanel deserves … I wanted to create something that made my fans feel good enough to have anything,” she said.
She is pleased with the result.
“It’s a sexy fragrance,” she said. “It’s for someone that wants to seduce someone. You shouldn’t wear it if you’re not likely to look for a lover, because it’s going to attract them.”
In a way, she said, the fragrance reminds her of her mother, whom she used to see applying her own perfume.
“My mother was always a sexy woman to me, very sexual, very sensual woman,” she said. “And my father always thought she was sexy. And, you know, they weren’t always private about, you know, hugging and kissing each other in front of us. And it was something that my sister and I really enjoyed to see.”
Asked what it was about smell that was so important to her, Gaga replied: “Well, I don’t really know. To be honest it’s not really that important to me. The only sense that I really care about is my hearing, my ability to hear music.”
Smell may not be that important to her, but she knows how she likes a man to smell.
“I personally quite like leather smells” on a man, she said. “And sort of, tobacco smells and alcohol-y smells. Things that smell like you’ve been in a bar being bad all night. I really like that.”
Lady Gaga Fame is about the cycles of desire and how to do away with them or manage them well,” the superstar said. “Vanity can create a very cruel space for you if you don’t know how to manage it.”
She is certainly someone who knows how to walk the fine line between shock value and mass appeal — as when she was asked about what she wanted from Fame’s scent.
Gaga stands break the bank with her new product; however it’s not as if she needs the money. The young performer is certainly in the black: Forbes estimates Gaga earned $52 million between May 2011 and May 2012 — a drop from the $90 million she earned the year before, the magazine reported. But Forbes expects that figure to balloon next year, as she launched her 2012-2013 “Born This Way Ball” world tour in late April with more than 100 concerts planned.
Will that passion translate into commercial success for the perfume? Some fans are turned off when their favorite artists hawk products, but as Gaga quipped during our interview, “I already am a product.”
Gaga also debuted a short film for the fragrance in collaboration with director Steven Klein.
The Grammy-winning singer released her multiplatinum debut, “The Fame,” in 2008. That was followed by the platinum-selling albums “The Fame EP” and last year’s “Born This Way.”
