Lea Michele Secret Grief at Cory Monteith Death

Lea Michele secret grief

Just when it looked as though things could not get any worse for Lea Michele, the news that she and Cory were planning to move in together has just surfaced. This unexpected news, as well as the news that the young couple were allegedly engaged, means that 26 year-old Lea has had a secret grief to deal with after Cory Monteith’s death.

Monteith, who played Lea’s love interest in the Fox show Glee, and was her real-life love, was found dead in his Vancouver Hotel room on July 13. The 31 year-old actor died from an overdose of heroin and alcohol and it was reported that Michele was devastated by the news.

A lot of Michele’s grief must come from the recent revelation that, according to sources, the two young people were planning on moving in together and that they had been discussing marriage plans. According to sources from the Glee show, Cory Monteith and Lea Michele were inseparable as a couple at the time of his tragic death on July 13; they were “100 percent happy” together when Cory overdosed.

While fans, co-stars, and the Hollywood glitterati have been responding to the news of the young star’s untimely death, Michele has been quiet except for a statement released from her rep. It has been reported that even though Lea is devastated that she is apparently making plans for Cory’s memorial. This must be incredibly stressful for the young actress.

A source told Us Weekly that, “Lea and Cory were planning on moving in together after he got back from Vancouver. They “weren’t talking engagement or marriage yet but it was heading that way. The first step was Cory was going to move in [to Michele's L.A. home] completely. He was already there all the time.”

But earlier in the year an English newspaper reported that Lea had been spotted in an International Airport wearing an engagement ring. Is this another reason that Michele is so distraught? This secret grief felt by Lea after Monteith’s death must be crippling. Were she and Cory, in fact, already engaged and just waiting for the right moment to tell the world?

A moment that will never happen now that Cory is gone?

That would be just too cruel. Especially as more sources close to the couple have said, “They were 100 percent happy and together and in love at the time of his death. They never broke up.” Another source said that Lea was in Mexico when she learned of Cory’s death and that, “She [Lea Michele] is absolutely hysterical and completely inconsolable. She is devastated beyond belief.”

Another source said that Lea, “was shaking when she heard the news,” according to the New York Daily News.

But still other sources maintain that there was never a formal engagement between the two Glee actors and that they were only dating, albeit for over a year and very much in love.

No mention of an engagement was made in the statement that Lea’s rep made. He said that Lea was, “deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them. They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together.”

But the news that Lea was seen to be wearing an engagement ring at an airport has indicated that the actress has a secret grief that she is not able to talk about after the shock of Cory Monteith’s death. We hope that the catharsis of arranging Cory’s memorial gives the poor heartbroken girl some closure. We also hope that she feels, that one day, she can tell the world of her engagement and the young couples plans.
