Chelsea Handler is or possibly was a very respected comedian by many. Millions tuned into her late night talk show Chelsea Lately for her quick wit and sharp tongue sense of humor. Comedians are known for touching the taboo and pushing the envelope in terms of being correct. Some comedians have made a living on offending people in the name of comedy. Chelsea Handler, however, may have crossed the line in the name of comedy when reportedly the Huffington Post gave her access to their Twitter account to report on the Oscars Sunday night.
Chelsea Handler took to Twitter after Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o won the academy award for best supporting actress in the Oscar award-winning film 12 Year a Slave. According to New York Post, Twitter hit the roof when Handler tweeted that Angelina Jolie was filing adoption papers on Lupita Nyong’o. Many believe this was taking a cheap jab at Jolie who is respected for her humanitarian work overseas in Africa and also adopting children from other countries. Not many found Handler’s joke to be a knee slapper. Many felt it was racist and expressed their views on Twitter defending Lupita Nyong’o. The report goes on to say when 12 Year a Slave took home the Oscar for best film, Chelsea Handler hit Twitter self promoting her new book Uganda Be Kidding Me. 12 year a Slave was executive produced by Brad Pitt. This would be the first Oscar win for Brad Pitt. Handler has been known to allegedly take shots at Angelina Jolie for marrying Brad Pitt who divorced Handler’s friend actress Jennifer Anniston. As the night went on, when 12 Year a Slave or Angelina Jolie was mentioned, Handler tweeted, “Go to Africa or buy my book Uganda Be Kidding Me.”
USA Today reported Perri Dorset, who is the executive director of communications for the Huffington Post, is not taking any responsibility for the views tweeted from their account from Chelsea Handler. Questions are looming as to why Huffington Post did not stop the comedian after the first controversial tweet went out. Her tweets later included legendary actor Sydney Poitier and the late Nelson Mandela. Chelsea Handler tweeted an apology without explanation. Like Paula Deen, it was not clear to whom the apology was directed. Many readers felt it was too late. Much of the public is wondering if the attacks were personal attacks on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and/or just racist towards Lupita Nyong’o. Either one, it was not a good look for the comedian.
It is debatable if Chelsea Handler’s “jokes” might have been a big hit had they been performed in an intimate setting on a stage in some Los Angeles comedy club. The jokes did not translate successfully over social media. There is not a person alive who has not been misunderstood over a text message, tweet, or email. However, most will apologize followed with an explanation to anyone who may have misunderstood or been offended. Whether it was just a bad stand-up night for a seasoned comedian or a full on attack, the heat fell on Chelsea Handler. New York Daily News reported her publicist is not responding to any questions. It is rare when a PR machine is at a loss for words. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt took his Oscar win home with his beautiful wife Angelina Jolie to celebrate with their six children. Lupita Nyong’o took home her first Oscar excited about a blossoming career and her dreams coming true. And as for Chelsea Handler, it said that a great comedian should never have to follow-up a good joke with an explanation. Many would say Chelsea Handler has some explaining to do.

even all your thoughts are rights..as human you know how to throw a joke in a right place and in a right time…as a public figure..showing that kind of attitude even she doesn’t nor hate angelina jolie and brad pitt so much she have to take reaponsibility..a joke is a joke bit if its already below the belt..you should stop..you are not proving that you are talented or clever for saying bad words all the time..cheating is always bad but brangelina was chewing all the bad comment people throwing to them..but look at them they still together and trying to be normal as muc as possible…lets be move on on jen and brad issues..
That was a funny joke in my opinion. clever. Let’s not forget the operative word being “joke”. Some people (me for one) like a twist of the truth type of poking jokes, some don’t… Hello? Has everyone lost their sense of humor? Now we have to censor everything we say cause we might, God forbid hurt somebody’s feelings. Put a diaper on and go to bed.

Angelina Jolie needed to have six kids to feel loved because she has no friends and can’t even get along with her own family. Lynn from Phoenix, according to Jen, Brad did cheat and Angelina did break up their marriage, so how are you a better source than Jen herself?
Jolie has quite the history: was with Jenny Shimizu while married to Jonny Lee Miller, married Billy Bob Thornton who was at the time engaged to Laura Dern (Dern was quoted: “I left our home to go and make a movie and while I was away, my boyfriend got married and I never heard from him again.”), had an affair with Pitt, who was married to Aniston at the time, AND lied about it. You would think living in a city with a population of 12 million she’d be able to find a single man.
Seriously how can anyone say Chelsea is in the wrong? She is a comedian and doing a job. Shr gains publicity the normal way… instead of Angelina who uses innocent children for her own benefit, and steals other women’s husbands!

Why do you people from US portray everything as racism?? I mean this was a joke, some people liked it, some did not. That is always the case when you make some joke. I don’t know Chelsea (never heard about her) so she maybe a racist, but what does this joke have to do with racism? Just because she saw, like we all know, that Brad and Angelina like to adopt kids, and mostly non-white ones. This is what comedians do, made jokes about things that stars tend to do. So much Americans seems to forget that racism is believing that your race is SUPERIOR and that other races are INFERIOR. I don’t see any of that in joke that she connect fact that Lupita is black and that Angelina like to adopt non-whites so joke was that if Lupita was 12 years younger they would adopt her??

This is an overrated, stupid, sad and very hateful alcoholic loser who *happens to make a marginally funny joke now and again – she needs to be taken off the air. One of the only reasons she IS on the air is because she is an anomaly (white, blonde, female comic). Other than that, she is a hack.
Chelsea hides her acidic persona behind her comedy. There is no way to prove if she is racist because she uses her talent as a fascade. Therefore she can claim plausible denyabilty like most coorporations today do on a consistent basis when they are in some controversy. Chelsea get over Angelina Jolie, me think your terribly jealous of her and Bradd Pitt can do whatever he wishes with his money. It’s all for the good as they see it.

I to used to watch Chelsea Lately also but don’t anymore, if Chelsea’s not a racist she sure sounds like one, she loves to use stereotypes for African Americans and Asian’s on her E! show, and just because you have a black comedian on ( Loni Love) does not mean you’re not a racist your words show you are. I knew eventually she would be called out on this issue! I find CH uses her comedy to emote her true feelings ( Chelsea is not funny in the least). I used to watch her show Chelsea Lately but stopped because in my opinion CH has shown her true colors as a racist a long time ago that she covers up in her so called comedy. I mean the comments she made about LN and SP are nothing compared to some of the racists comments she and her group of buddies have said on Chelsea Lately. Sometimes those who want to launch their book release find that controversy is the best path and preparation. This was at the cost of a still very sensitive and highly charged racial issue about slavery and racism in this country and worldwide. Many Americans still want to deny it’s existence and sweep it under the rug. Handler would never have survived such atrocities and has zero compassion for those who did. She dishonored the academy, the Huffington Post and those who have been and continue to be enslaved worldwide. It was a series of cheap shots to promote a book about her trip to Africa and a continuation of the constant attacks on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie because she’s bff with Jennifer Anniston. She needs to get over it. Brad and Angelina share 6 kids and live as man and wife and are on point or have already made it official. How many times has Annistan had to have a new life for herself? Maybe it’s not the men. Maybe Jen needs to fight her own battles and focus on her own current relationship’s success. I give honor to Brad Pitt for making this film happen. I give honor to Jolie for her extensive and dangerous humanitarian efforts. I applaud Steve McQueen, John Ridley, Lupita and the rest of the extraordinary cast for their roles in making this venture an academy award winning celebration and success! I applaud Sydney for being a living legend. Handler, on the other hand, is a joke!
