An Argentinian farmer made quite a discovery, he found the largest dinosaur ever to roam the Earth. When he did, a group of paleontologists hurried in to take a look at his discovery of the giant dinosaur. They examined everything and now are reporting that he did indeed find the biggest dinosaur ever.
It is so huge that one paleontologist even stated that the thigh bone was bigger than he was. That is something when thinking about the large size of these bones, which exceed any of the formerly known giant animals. The bones were found in La Flecha, Argentina.
The petrified thigh bone, which was discovered with an arm bone, point to a creature that was not only 65 feet tall but also 130 feet long and weighed around 170,000 pounds. With the dinosaur being over 60 feet tall means that if it were to stand straight up, it would have been as tall as a seven story building. This means that the paleontologists working at the site have come to the conclusion that the bones belong to a previously unknown variety of titanosaur. This was a kind of very large, herbivorous dinosaur that had a tiny head and enormous body. This new variety, stated the scientists, was at least seven tons heftier than the preceding record holder.
The team discovered almost 200 bones in total, which they explained came from seven different dinosaurs of the newly identified variety. All the bones were said to be in tip-top shape. However the paleontologists have not yet decided on what they are going to name their brand new huge baby but they do have a technique in how they proceed with the naming process.
They explained that the dinosaur would be given a name that describes its splendor and glory and also it honors both the region and the farm owners who told them about it. The paleontologists stated that they believe it also had a long neck and lengthy tail and walked on all four legs. It was thought to have lived about 95 million years ago in the Cretaceous Period.
The Argentinian farmer definitely made quite a discovery when he found this dinosaur’s thigh and arm bone. When he did and the group of paleontologists hurried in to see what he had found, they realized he had discovered the largest dinosaur ever to roam the Earth.
It was so big that one paleontologist even stated that the thigh bone was bigger than he was. That is something when thinking about the large size of dinosaur bones, which exceed any bones of all giant animals now and in the past. The bones were found in La Flecha, Argentina.
Since they have not named it yet, the researchers have been calling the dinosaur the Giant. That is the perfect nickname for the beast since the current official holder of the heavyweight title is the Argentinosaurus which is believed to have weighed around 70 tons and the Giant is believed it will take the title at around 140 tons.
The paleontologists continue to look for the head and other various bones because these are very important due to the large number of bones and the great degree of feature preservation. They want to get a complete skeleton if at all possible and they want to do it quickly.
