Independence Day: Celebrate With a Beer That Supports Troops

Independence day

This Independence Day, celebrate with all things red, white and brew and grab a beer that supports U.S. troops. Each summer everyone across the country comes together to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, parades, beer and barbecues. Drinking beer this Independence Day can actually help out a great cause. Raise a glass to those who fight to maintain our status as a free country and drink a beer that gives back.

Homefront IPA is brewed in partnership with Hops For Heroes, which is helping breweries across the country give back to U.S. military members and their families through Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront is a nonprofit organization that provides assistance and support to U.S. troops and their families. All proceeds from the Homefront IPA beer will go to this organization. Homefront IPA is a beer for charity that is unique due to the fact that 100 percent of all its monetary gains will go straight to the nonprofit organization.

Freemont Brewing Company and Center of the Universe Brewing Company originally developed Homefront IPA in 2011 with the goal of raising not only money but awareness as well for Operation Homefront. 11 breweries are participating in making the beer, and other organizations are helping by donating hops and grains that are used during the brewing process.

Hops for Heroes raised around $80,000 last year for Operation Homefront and has the goal of more than doubling that this year. Hops For Heroes is brewing 24,800 gallons, or 800 barrels, of Homefront IPA divided amongst the 11 participating breweries.

Cigar City Brewing, Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Stone Brewing Company, Maui Brewing Company, Palmetto Brewing Company, Left Hand Brewing Company, 21st Amendment Brewing Company, Perennial Artisan Ales, Sly Fox Brewing Company, Fremont Brewing Company, and Center of the Universe Brewing Company will all brew Homefront IPA.

The participating breweries are paying respect to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces by creating a beer to support them in which they themselves make no profit off of. Hops For Heroes mission to support Operation Homefront is supported not only by the participation of these American breweries, but also by Louisville Slugger, which all of the Homefront IPA is aged on, and Major League Baseball, America’s favorite pastime.

Homefront IPA is an India pale ale that is brewed with spices, orange peel, Cascade and Chinook hops and is then fermented on top of untreated maple bats. The beer is available bottled, canned or on tap and is sold nationwide through a multitude of different distributors such as Whole Foods.

On Independence Day this year, America will officially be celebrating 238 years of liberation from Great Britain. All kinds of red white and blue will be flying across the summer skies on this holiday weekend as people nation wide celebrate those who fought and died for our country to remain free. Those that are currently deployed will not be able to celebrate in the homeland with their friends and families, so keep them in remembrance as you celebrate Independence Day and show U.S. troops your support by drinking an all American beer that gives back.
