Kevin Sorbo Stands for Christianity in Hollywood

Kevin Sorbo

Famous television star Kevin Sorbo is one person who stands up for Christianity in a tough area like Hollywood. As a whole, Hollywood has been accused of coming down hard on Christians. They tend to mock Christianity by having Christian characters be either silly, unimportant characters, or bad guys like the guy who preaches about Christianity in the movie Saved. But the feeling has changed somewhat with films like Passion of the Christ, Noah, and God’s Not Dead.

The actor has been blacklisted in Hollywood because of his willingness to speak out about his faith and his political views. He was once heard saying that while Hollywood has boasted an attitude of tolerance, most of the people in Hollywood are the least tolerable people we will ever come across. He has also spoken out against socialism. He has often mentioned his fear that socialism will spread from Europe over to the United States.

While Hollywood has taken a shot at depicting Christian themes in movies, there is still much work to do. According to Answers in Genesis, the film Noah botches more than a few details. The movie  has a man sneaking aboard the ark and eating some of the animals, which means that lineage of animals would not exist after the ark.

Also, one of the sons ended up not having a wife to accompany him on the ark. According to the Bible, other than Noah and his wife and their sons and wives, there were no other humans aboard the ark. That would have been too important of a fact to have been left out of the Bible. Finally, all of Noah’s son’s had wives that were on the ark with them. Genesis 7:13 has Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives entering the ark.

While appearing silly in some areas, the movie God’s Not Dead, which  Sorbo stars in, does a much better job of portraying Christianity. Especially when it comes to standing up for our faith like we should in situations like the one that the character, Josh Wheaton, faces. The movie heats up when Josh Wheaton gets his atheist professor (Kevin Sorbo) to admit that God is real in front of the whole class.

Born in Mound, Minnesota, the 55-year-old actor is best known for his role as Hercules in the movies and television series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and Dylan Hunt in the television series Andromeda. Besides God’s Not Dead, Sorbo can also be seen in other Christian films like Christmas Angel and Abel’s Field.

Though kept secret during filming, it has come out recently that the Hercules actor had a huge health crisis during the last two seasons of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Reportedly, Kevin Sorbo’s faith played an important role in his healing process.

Unlike most of the actors in Hollywood, Kevin Sorbo stands up for Christianity in a world that is widely influenced by Hollywood. Make no mistake there are other actors that have made known that they are Christian. Examples of these stars include Everybody Loves Raymond star Patricia Heaton and movie star Denzel Washington. Lots of people are looking toward faith-based films. That is why God’s Not Dead became a box office hit, raising over $62 million globally.

Actor Kevin Sorbo stands for Christianity in a Hollywood-influenced society. He has gone from a top name in the TV series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys to someone being blacklisted by most of Hollywood for his faith and his political views. He stars in three Christian based films including the box office hit God’s Not Dead. In a world that ridicules anyone who believes in God, Kevin Sorbo is one of few to actively promote his faith regardless of how people treat him.

He obviously didn’t say it ‘just exactly right’, you know, like a ‘slip of the tongue’ a human thing we all do….Christian or not. Many of the people in Ferguson acted/behaved like animals, and he was calling their behaviors for what they were. Angry, thoughtless, vengeful and senseless. Of course they weren’t animals, they just behaved like animals for a time, and finally and hopefully, cooled down and came to their senses.

I’m wondering, Jerome, what YOUR kind of Christianity is. The protesters in Ferguson did act like animals. They allowed their base natures to take over. No reason, just revenge. That’s not my kind of protest.

Jerome, the protestors in Ferguson are animals. When a black person is killed, it seems the world has been destroyed, but when a white man is killed, it’s a good thing. Theres no excuse for the behavior the people in Ferguson are committing. Mr. Sorbo had it right. Too bad too many people are foolish enough not to believe the truth.
