The grandmother of Alana Thompson, a.k.a Honey Boo Boo, was reportedly the one who launched the Georgia Child and Family Services investigation against the girl’s mother, June Shannon. Sandra Hale recently gave an interview with Entertainment Tonight in which she gave details surrounding the aftermath of her daughter’s recent scandal regarding her rumored relationship with convicted child molester Mark McDaniel, who was sent to prison for 10 years for violating Shannon’s eldest daughter Anna Cardwell.
Hale told ET that she was the one who brought Cardwell to the police station in order for the girl to provide her statement, as she was only eight years old and thus unable to do so on her own. The reason behind why her own mother did not bring her has been made clear by Cardwell herself; Shannon reportedly did not believe her and blamed the girl for her boyfriend getting sent away, insisting that the now 52-year-old would never have done such a thing. The Honey Boo Boo matriarchal figure has since denied all alleged association with the man, saying that she has not seen or heard from him in 10 years and that the safety/well-being of her children are her utmost priority. Recent photographs have suggested otherwise, however, in terms of the 35-year-old’s claims that she cut all ties with McDaniel when he was sentenced to prison a decade ago. Popular gossip website TMZ recently published photographs of the pair in various situations of companionship over the past month, ranging from a hotel room together to house hunting in order to better rebuild the man’s life post-imprisonment.
Hale says she was contacted by GCFS earlier this week, and that they requested her statement regarding how she felt about her daughter’s renewed connection with the man. While the woman has refused to reiterate exactly what she told members of child protective services, she does admit that she warned them to take all necessary precautions regarding McDaniel and the association he may or may not have with Honey Boo Boo matriarchal figure Shannon’s three minor children, most significantly nine-year-old Alana Thompson (better known as Honey Boo Boo and the star of the former hit TLC reality show.) She says she believes that the girl is in danger because of her mother’s continued relationship with said child molester, especially due to recent photographs having emerged showing Thompson in the company of both McDaniel and her mother. The pictures in question show the man’s hand resting on the young girl’s shoulder, something that her grandmother finds extremely alarming and feels should be addressed immediately in order to maintain the girls well-being and safety.
The Honey Boo Boo scandal has seemingly known no bounds in the past few weeks, with one dramatic situation after another finding its way onto headline news. Just yesterday, show patriarch Mike Thompson (Sugar Bear) made the news after reports broke detailing his worry that he would not be paid for the finished fifth season of the show, which has since been axed from appearing on air ever again. Thompson, who is currently residing with a friend, is said to be terrified that he will end up homeless due to the actions of his former partner and Honey Boo Boo co-star Shannon, which lead to the cancellation of the series and no further income being received by him.
It remains to be seen what Honey Boo Boo star Alana Thompson’s grandmother Sandra Hale said to GCFS in regards to their ongoing investigation into the reality television family. For the time being, however, child services representatives have not yet suggested any move towards custody seizure of the woman’s three minor children.
