The United States officials have been quiet about the specific numbers when it comes to the ongoing battle against ISIS. While on Al Arabiya television the U.S. ambassador told Iraq that they had done “devastating” damage to the terrorist group.
The U.S. was against giving a body count concerning how the battles against ISIS have been going. Iraq criticised the U.S. for not doing enough, even though they claim airstrikes have been covering a lot of ground. Such involvement encouraged the U.S. to give a more firm estimate of 6,000 ISIS fighters killed. Secretary of State, John Kerry, stated that the momentum of ISIS has been halted thanks to these airstrikes. They have even claimed ”more than 700 square kilometers.”
ISIS was gaining ground in Yemen, things are looking rather series. The president, Abdrabuh Mansur Hadai resigned office as of today, Thursday, January 22. In conjunction the Yemen government has also resigned.
