Wednesday, June 3 the newest episode of NASA’s: The Unexplained Files (Season 2, Episode 7) aired at 9 p.m. on the Science Channel. NASA’s The Unexplained Files is a television show that investigates strange occurrences that provide viewers with an experience that seems to be out of this world. Nevertheless, reality can be stranger than fiction. This show covers topics that range from UFO’s to mummies, looking into the world’s greatest mysteries with NASA researchers. Some of the stories are well known, while others have remained a secret until now and will be explored on the show for the first time.
Every topic is investigated through a multitude of methods; methods such as, investigative journalism, using scientific methods, and eyewitness accounts. Each episode of NASA’s The Unexplained Files is a new mystery and it will be easy to get lost in out of this world experiences.
Lethal Weapons (Season 2, Episode 7) airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. on the Science Channel. In this episode, through the Hubble Space Telescope there is thought to be a UFO spotted. Researchers are not sure if Earth is being invaded or if a mysterious force is going to destroy an asteroid that appears to be headed toward Earth.
The following are written excerpts from previous episodes from NASA’s: The Files of the Unexplained:
The ‘Black Knight’
Astronauts, installing thermal protection on the space station, see something and they immediately follow NASA UFO protocol and take pictures. The object reminds them of an object seen in the 1950’s called, “The Black Knight.” Unexplained blips on the radar and mysterious dark objects in the sky lead some to believe they were dark satellites. In this case, what actually happened is that the thermal blanket that the astronauts were putting onto the space station got away from them, and with the reflective side facing opposite of them, it appeared to be black and not white. However, not every sighting of “The Black Knight” is able to be explained so easily.
May 1969, Apollo 10 takes an eight-day mission to the moon. This is supposed to be a dry-run for Apollo 11’s moon landing. The lunar module is supposed to map the exact spot that the Apollo 11 is going to land. However, the Command Module fails and renders the lunar module helpless as it needs a lock to dock to the space shuttle. The manual override will not work. The Lunar Module pilot films the events that follow. It appears there is another spacecraft below them. NASA calls things seen out the window by astronauts, “moon pigeons.” It disappears quickly and after its disappearance, Apollo 10 begins to work again. Some believe that this was a warning to stay away. Others believe that friendly aliens rescued the team on Apollo 10.
The space shuttle, Atlantis, had finished assembling the space station in 12 days and was ready to come home. During the episode, the commander sees a structure that is not metal, but is reflective that he has not seen before. He does not believe that it is a part of the shuttle. One reflective object becomes three and they now appear to be flashing. When the Atlantis began beaming images back to Mission Control, three of the flashing objects come together in a triangle. However, space is a vacuum so all things that are found in three’s come together in a triangle. NASA believes the objects to be space junk reflecting the sunlight. Not everyone agrees with the space junk theory. To some, any astronaut should know what space junk looks like, due to their training. Space junk can be dangerous and is taken very seriously by NASA. Three years prior, it was space debris, or space junk that brought the Columbia down. NASA tracks every piece of space debris it sees as a safety precaution. In the episode, NASA feared that it may have been seeing pieces of the Atlantis that had broken off. This warning was missed once and NASA did not want to see it happen again. So the landing was delayed a day to be sure that the Atlantis’ heat shield was intact.
There are those who believe that humans are not alone in this universe. Some believe NASA and the government have proof of UFO’s and alien activity, but some are not sure. Regardless of curiosity or confirmation, NASA’s: The Unexplained Files is shown Wednesdays at 9 p.m., on the Science Channel, where viewers can tune in for an out of this world experience.
