Las Vegas Nevada, May 2012: “I shot her because she wouldn’t stop moaning.” Those were the words of 19-year-old Ricardo Perez from Henderson as he turned himself in at the Clark County jail and told police he shot a female friend twice before dumping her body in the desert.
Police say in an arrest report that 18-year-old Breanna Lynn Carasik McGee’s body was found where Ricardo Perez said it would be. Perez was transferred to jail on Tuesday pending an initial court appearance after telling detectives he wanted to take responsibility for his actions.
Perez tells police he shot Carasik-McGee in the head with a 9mm handgun after both drank alcohol at a friend’s trailer east of downtown Las Vegas. Police say Perez told detectives he drove Carasik-McGee into the desert south of College Drive in Henderson, shot her again in the head because she was still alive and left the body.
The arrest report says he told police that he was drinking heavily and had consumed more than two dozen beers at a friend’s house.
Perez had his mother’s gun and was playing with it. That’s when he pulled the trigger — shooting Breana in the head.
When asked why he didn’t take her to the hospital, Perez says he panicked and thought she would die anyway.
