The 7-year-old boy who dressed as Darth Vader in the adorable 2011 Super Bowl Volkswagon commercial will have open-heart surgery. Max Page, the young boy, has a congenital heart defect. If everything goes as planned, the surgery will replace his pulmonary valve and repair a hole in his heart. Page was diagnosed as an infant and has been using a pacemaker.
Page said that he had never seen any of the Star Wars film at the time this commercial was made. Since then, he has been acting as an ambassador for the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles to raise money for other children with heart defects.
