Suspect Arrested for Homicide After Victim Dies in Hospital
On July 22, 2012 at approximately 1:34 a.m. LVMPD Patrol Officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 800 block of West Lake Boulevard. Arriving officers located an individual suffering from what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound. This subject was transported to the UMC Trauma center for treatment.
Violent Crimes Detectives determined a fight between two males resulted in the shooting. Brenton Smith, 45 years of age of Henderson, was apprehended near the scene and arrested for attempted murder with a deadly weapon. Following the death of the victim, LVMPD Homicide Investigators amended the charge to murder with a deadly weapon. Smith’s booking photograph accompanies this release.
The identity of the deceased, and the exact cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
