Las Vegas: LVMPD uses Technology to keep public informed

Members of the general public can activate a special aspect of the “Alert I.D.” system which will keep them informed about important public safety related issues on New Year’s Eve. After texting the word “info” to [702] 800-6776, the user will receive a text message confirming they are connected to the New Years Eve information distribution

network.
Beginning December 31, 2012, at approximately 4:00 p.m. text messages will be sent to those subscribers with information such as fireworks locations, traffic updates, road closure and re-opening information, and other facts which will help subscribers enjoy the New Years Eve celebration. This aspect of the Alert I.D. system will be discontinued following the completion of New Years Eve activities, which normally occurs at approximately 3:00 a.m. on the
morning of January 1st.
