Explosion Near Hostage Scene
Jimmy Lee Dykes allegedly boarded a school bus last Tuesday, shot and killed the driver, and took a 5 year old boy called “Ethan”. He has been holding him hostage in a man-made bunker near Midland City, Alabama for 7 days.
Dykes is a Vietnam veteran, and authorities believe he has not harmed the child. FBI negotiators have been on the scene since Tuesday evening.
A short while ago, Monday 2 p.m., witnesses heard two loud bangs. Authorities say the hostage situation is over, and the child is safe. They are reporting that the suspect is dead.
