Season Shaping Up To See The Unexpected?
This weekend, the number 2 ranked Kansas Jayhawks lost at home for the first time in two years. They lost to unranked Oklahoma State 85-80. The Jayhawks joined several other highly ranked teams who have suffered upset losses this season.
It’s not the worst thing that could happen to them. It may be a wake-up call, as might be the case for other teams. We’re edging closer to the Tournament, and my question is, “will ‘March Madness’ see a string of upsets in the first couple of rounds”?
There will not be a team ranked in the top 10 that enters the tournament undefeated. Michigan, ranked number one at the moment has 2 losses, one to Indiana, and one to Ohio State.
Unranked in the top 25 are teams such as UCLA, Villanova, Notre Dame, and Baylor. If they win against a ranked team in the first or second round, is that an upset? Probably not this year.
This season seems to be setting the stage for a great tournament. No one appears to be dominant right now. By the time the third round comes, many fans may have no more nails to bite.
