The most interesting pairing in the first two rounds of the Cadillac Championship golf tournament in Miami, features the top three players in the world; Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and Luke Donald.
On a near perfect day, birdies were falling in all over the course, except for Rory and Luke.
Rory says he “can’t find his swing”. It appeared he was right on the nose. Errant shots and misjudged putts kept him over par, finishing with a 1 over par 73.
The trio began on the 10th hole, and Luke Donald promptly put his tee shot into the water. He fared better on the back nine, finishing 2 under par at 70.
Tiger was playing some of his best golf. His drives were mostly in the fairway, and his irons frequently put him into birdie position. But the crème de la crème of his game Thursday was his putting. He was near perfect, including sinking puts of 18, 21, and 30 feet.
His day found him sharing the top of the leaderboard at 6 under par, 66 for the round.
Tiger won once this year, at Torrey Pines. Can he put together four good days and win this week? He’s won this tournament 6 times previously. The “Masters” isn’t far away.
