Lauryn Hill facing eviction along with her tax issues
Lauryn Hill is a legend in hip hop, from her time with hit making group The Fugees to her solo debut in 1998 with her debut solo album THE MISEDUCATION OF LAURYN HILL. An album that earned the hip hop legend five Grammy awards and platinum status. Lauryn Hill was and still is a gem in the hip hop world. She is respected by many with a strong following among hip hop fans who hope for a comeback album from Ms. Hill but one has yet to surface.
Lauryn Hill who in 2008 decided to take a break from music and focus on her family has not forgotten her fans. Instead she has been making appearances for instance at 2011’s Coachella and touring with Nas in 2012.
Still, the Femcee and songstress has faced some financial problems with her latest being an eviction notice for failure to pay rent. Now, the Hip Hop star aside from her tax issues with the IRS is now being faced with an eviction on her South Orange mansion that she ceased paying rent on last month.
Earlier this week the eight time Grammy winner was due in tenancy court.
Aside from her recent financial problems, in June of 2012 Ms. Lauryn Hill entered a guilty plea on the grounds that she intentionally did not pay taxes for the years of 2005, 2006 and 2007. Now, she faces jail time and a $100,000 fine for each count against her. In the years of 2005, 2006 and 2007 Lauryn Hill made approximately $1.6 million. Lauryn says the reason she did not file her taxes was because of threats against her family.
Ms. Hill is set to be sentenced in her tax invasion case on April 22, where she could be faced with a $100,00 fine and up to a year in jail.
